We told you last week that Australian-raised British-based fashion designer & creative director of Cerruti Richard Nicoll, was set to design a collection for Australian fast-fashion chain Sportsgirl, and now we have a first look at the collection!
The Central Saint Martin’s graduate is due in Australia to promote the 9-piece Sportsgirls Like: Richard Nicoll collection in the coming weeks
“I am delighted to be working with Sportsgirl on this capsule collection,” Nicoll says in a release. “From the beginning I sought to design a range that felt fresh, young and relevant for Sportsgirl, but was also something progressive, confident and fun. Adding the heart motif and some feminine silhouettes translate well to soften the masculine elements and at its core the range really reflects the spirit of both Sportsgirl and Richard Nicoll. I’m very pleased with the outcome.”
And what a collection it is, known for his tailoring, Nicoll was inspired by a tomboy version of the preppy US East Coast schoolgirl. We love his tailored striped jumpsuit with a love heart motif on the front, and we’d love to see some of the hipsters around town in the houndstooth trousers and jacket.
A perfect collection for the upcoming Autumn in Australia, the Sportsgirls Like: Richard Nicoll collection will hit selected Sportsgirl boutiques and online at Sportsgirl.com.au on March 28th, 2011 with pieces ranging from $80 – $200.
