SASSYBELLA.com’s 10th Birthday Party: I’d like to thank the academy

So you know we had a 10th Birthday Party last week right? Hitting a decade was something we wanted to celebrate and what better way to do it than to invite some of the amazing people who we’ve met, worked with and are friends with to celebrate the support and love we have received over the years. I am terrible at talking about things that are close to my heart and have worked on for months before I could openly talk about it, so I recommend you pop over to Lucire for Viviana’s lovely write up about the party here.

Something I can write about with gushing love is ALL our thank you’s.

Firstly I have to say a huge thank you to The Loft Sydney and SKYY Vodka for sponsoring our 10th Birthday Party. The Loft and their catering got rave reviews while the SKYY Vodka cocktails definitely hit the spot with guests on the night, I couldn’t be happier. And then of course a big thank you goes out to the guys at Polite In Public who supplied us with one of their awesome photo booths.

Next up we have to mention the awesome people over at Glasshouse Candles for supplying us with some of their amazing triple scented candles in Sassafrass and Monte Carlo. We asked if Glasshouse would be interested in loaning us some candles for the night since I have at least half a dozen Glasshouse Candles dotted around the house and they’ve always been an affordable personal indulgence. Needless to say I was ecstatic when they said yes!

What I wore:

I wore an amazing draped red dress by Australian fashion brand Marvin, picked up for $90 from The Big Fashion Sale recently. I accessorised with some beautiful borrowed jewels: a beautiful Anton Heunis Floral Crystal Embellished Necklace from My-Wardrobe, a Samantha Wills ‘High Style’ ring and a ‘Untouched & Arrived’ bracelet. My shoes were strappy sandals, ‘Kiri’ by Toni Bianco with gel cushions by Scholls inside (high heel essentials, I buy them every time they go on sale at Priceline).

The beauty & hair

I can do my own hair and make up no problem – when I don’t have to have my photo taken and don’t want to look like a dishevelled mess. Luckily that couldn’t happen with the help of the amazing Sonia Yun at MAC Cosmetics’ Pro Store in Paddington, I wish I knew exactly what she did but my only input was what false eyelashes to put on and choosing my lip colour – MAC Pro Longwear Lipglass in Ready Or Not. Sonia is a talented make up artist who knows exactly what is needed for a party look – long wearing and no oily sheen after one hour. I definitely recommend you make an appointment at MAC to get your make up done before a big night/event.

As for my head full of curls, Dolly from Prema Hair in Surry Hills looked after me there thanks to the guys at ghd. My request was for glamour curls/waves and Dolly made sure my style wouldn’t drop out in an hour after I had my hair done. And drop out they did not, the secret is the ghd Curl Hold spray and then a dose of hairspray.

I’d also like to thank my friends

Firstly, I have to send a huge shout out to Elise (who happens to be a very awesome lifestyle & beauty blogger) for all her help before, during and after the party and to Bree of White Rabbit Project for coming on board to help manage the things I wouldn’t have thought of and making sure things ran smoothly on the night. Then there is the amazing Nicole Cooper and Andrew Kaineder who made sure special moments were caught on the night. Cheri, for the invite design (did we mention she has a super cool blog too?). Much love goes out to Prue, Aarti, Ryan and Michelle for all your help on the night, I couldn’t have done it without you guys.

Oh and the amazing door prize suppliers

A huge thank you goes out to the guys at Shopbop, ghd, Samantha Wills, Barney Martin Hairdressing and Sunglass Hut for their generous donations. Congratulations to everyone who won the door prizes and to everyone who participated in our social media ‘extra entries’ option.

Check out all the photos Nicole took from the party here. We also love the photos by Urban Society and from the Polite In Public photo booth.
