Fashion around the world this weekend: Paris, Los Angeles, Sydney and Rome

The weekend is nearly here again, and the world has seen some flashy events take place this week, from Haute Couture shows in Paris, to the bright lights and colour of the Sydney Festival. It seems that there is never a shortage of exciting ways to fill your weekend around the world.

Paris has come alive this week with the S/S ’12 Haute Couture shows for some of the world’s most exquisite fashion houses, including Chanel, Christian Dior and Elie Saab. With the designers showing off their latest creations, you can be sure fashionistas in the City of Love are channelling inspiration from the shows in their adaptations of the latest trends.

If you’re in Los Angeles this weekend, be sure to head to the Los Angeles Times Travel Show, held at the Convention Centre, for ideas of where to go on your next holiday. Visit the ‘Travel in Style’ Pavilion, which features displays, galleries and experiences that will provide inspiration for ways to pamper yourself on your dream holiday.

The Sydney Festival wraps up this weekend, and there is no shortage of exciting shows and events to enjoy before it’s all over again for another year. See West Side Story in all its remastered glory with the Sydney Symphony playing Leonard Bernstein’s orchestral score, while the film is shown in high definition with the original vocals. If art is more your thing, embrace the festival and visit the  Campbelltown Arts Centre to see the Edge of Elsewhere exhibition, which showcases the diverse cultural mix that Sydney is famous for. With Sydney also being one of the lucky four cities worldwide to host a pop-up shop for Karl Lagerfeld’s KARL Net-A-Porter collection, you can be sure to spot pieces from the collection dotted around the streets of Sydney on the fashion set, so keep your eyes peeled during the last days of the Festival.

Alta Roma, or Rome Fashion Week, kicks off this weekend in the Italian capital, and if you weren’t able to score an invite for the Louis Vuitton cocktail party opening, do not despair- there are many other ways to enjoy yourself in Rome this weekend. With Couture shows, photographic exhibitions, and even a Louis Vuitton public exhibition showcasing the House’s famous trunks that belonged to celebrities of decades past, you too can live La Dolce Vita this weekend.
