Miley Cyrus talks to Elle about her Wal-Mart collection

Miley-Cryus-Elle-coverAmerican Elle has taken a teen turn with Miley Cyrus on their cover.

The tween star graces the cover of the August 2009 issue of Elle, wearing the cream of the up-and-coming designer crop in Alexander Wang. Surprising because inside the magazine (according to the two snippets Elle have allowed to be released) Cyrus talks about her clothing line for Wal-Mart, designed in collaboration with Max Azria.

“The jeans are my favorite part of the entire line. Because, like, literally this is going to be good for, like, Middle America, and it will be great for kids that really want to be in fashion but that don’t have it available.”

It’s a rather peculiar cover choice because Elle is like a fashion magazine for women who aren’t tweens. But like, it may expose Elle to a whole new audience who will find Cyrus’ new grown up look, like totally hot. At least she (or someone in her entourage) has the business smarts to think about middle America, when designing her collection.

I wonder if Wal-Mart and Max Azria are buying some major ad space in the August issue of Elle.

Will you be picking up a copy of Elle because Miley Cyrus is on the cover, or dropping it like a hot potato?
