Yves Saint Laurent’s take on the bowling bag seems to have taken off with the YSL Muse bag making it on to the arms of many stylish women over the past 8 months.

There are two sizes to choose from; a large and the regular sized Muse. The regular sized Muse is a good choice if you wanted a day bag that slots under your arm, while the larger Muse would make a great overnight bag. As for colours, there are the requisite black, white and browns too choose from, but the YSL Muse also comes in crocodile, ostrich, linen and probably a few more animal skins. These could set you back close to US$20,000.
Recently released was the black Anthracite YSL Reversible Muse Tote, which you can opt for the anthracite silver during the day, and reverse it to black for the night. Another option is buying it in chocolate, which can be reversed to bronze for a bit of metallic shine at night.
So when did this trend kick off?
Linda Evangelista toted around a sage green YSL Muse at Paris Fashion Week in February 2006, and was soon spotted on many celebrity arms soon after.
When will it end?
It has experienced a bit of a revival with Paris Hilton, Nicky Hilton and Nicole Richie spotted toting it around town. And with the recently released YSL Rive Gauche bag being toted around town by Katie Holmes and Julianne Moore, the Muse bag should still be popular well into 2007 with it’s classic clean lines and fashion houses re-releasing versions of their most popular bags in an array of new colours, materials and sizes.
