Photos of Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring/Summer 2011 womens and mens ad campaign have leaked on to the web, and we have them here first!
We told you a few weeks ago that the campaign starred Izabel Goulart, Isabeli Fontana, Alessandra Ambrosio and Maryna Linchuk, well here’s a first look at the sexy ad campaign where the women look like bronzed goddesses who have just hopped off the D&G yacht on balmy summer’s day. It’s a day dream we’d like to run with, if only we didn’t know that the campaign was shot back at the start of November in New York City by Steven Klein.
An email arrived in my inbox with the subject line: $35 bag with a 3 month waiting list. That $35 bag is by a brand called Thursday Friday and their Together bag is the bag in question. Why is a canvas tote getting so many orders? Well it could have something to do with the Hermes Birkin-esque print on each side of the bag – include the sides and base. Created by Thursday Friday because:
We realized we were using the shopping bags as proxy accessories and wanted to take them a step further, to have the bag itself declare what’s going on. So we ended up with a surreal design that references luxury but ultimately works as easily as your favorite jeans.
This one time at band camp a friendly gathering some blogger gals and I were introduced to the new collection that was set to be sold on We’re, an online shop by former Cairns shop owner Lorena Mercado. We don’t often have time to attend showings with a day job and all, but I was dying to see the Birthday Suit pieces – which we saw on the runway back in April – up close and personal. After a few glasses of wine, I found myself playing a game of “I dare you”, “no I double dare you” with Adelaide fashion blogger and Attitude magazine editor Selena Battersby to see who would slip into the Birthday Suit’s Birds of Paradise catsuit – in the end we both did and posed like athletes during a winning celebration and then tried on typical social-page worthy poses in the vain hope that we’ll end up modelling for the very cool online store (not really).
While Lorena did quickly pull out a camera, luckily none of the pictures ended up on the website, instead she booked the fabulous Australian model Rachel Rutt to star in the website imagery which was photographed by Chris Searl who’s portfolio includes Corona and Bonds with hair and makeup by Vanessa Collins and styling by Hayley Hughes, .
