Gucci Sabrina bag, all ruffles and no IT factor?

The Gucci cruise spring 08 film was gorgeous, and now there’s a newly edited one devoted to their Sabrina bag. It’s a chic little Boston bag, dolled up a little with ruched/ruffled leather adding a girlie touch to a great travel tote.

Though on my second glance, I have to wonder if there a little too many ruffles. Don’t they look strange around the two front zip pockets? Plus isn’t it just a bit much having the ruffles along the top zipper? If you love it, it retails at Neiman Marcus for $1690.

Is this Gucci’s next IT bag to follow in the footsteps of the Gucci Indy bag?

But I do love the Gucci Cruise spring 2008 Sabrina bag film, watch it below.

Diane von Furstenberg won’t be doing a high street line

She’s designed a collection for Barbie, as well as Sidekick covers and is branching into shoes soon, but Diane von Furstenberg won’t be branching into the high street collaborations any time soon.

According to StyleHive, the popular American designer recently said in an interview that “I encourage people to do that [create collections for high street stores]. I think it is very good that those mass merchandisers are using designers. It’s good that they respect the value of that.”

But she’s not interested in taking part in the mass market game, saying that “well my price point is high. I don’t know. Right now I am not going to do that.”

While it is sad news for DVF fans who want to buy her gorgeous dresses for less than $50, I don’t think that low quality jersey would really look good on anyone no matter whose designs it was.

Heatherette for MAC

Heatherette is the next designer in line to create a make up collection for MAC. From the designers who brought up a young Paris and Nicky Hilton on the runway a few years ago, and Lydia Hearst collaborations with Puma, this is a make up collection to look forward to.

Set to debut in MAC stores in March, the Heatherette for MAC collection will include nail polish, eyeshadow, lipstick and pancake base. Each piece will be packaged in a very 1980s looking pink plastic – how very disco. Perhaps the Heatherette make up collection will be all glitter and sparkles like this promotional image?

This news follows in the footsteps of the upcoming collection by French graffiti artisit, Fafi, which is due in stores in February and the Alexander McQueen collection which hits MAC stores just a month or so ago.

Blumarine spring 2008 staring Suvi Koponen

Once upon a time I adored Blumarine. Their clothes were always romantic with a touch of vintage glamour and had a very luxury feel. With a price tag to match. But for a few seasons they lost touch with what I loved them about them most, but for spring summer 2008 the Blumarine I loved and coveted is back. Their spring 2008...
