The spring/summer 2011-12 collection from Marnie Skillings this season was a visual feast of colours, prints and patterns. While a fashion novice like me felt a little lost on where to look, there was always the comfort of a great hair do and perfect make-up to keep me focused.
The inspiration this season was all about adventurous, worldly girls. Feminine and soft, but still sexy and strong. Michelle Jank was one half of the styling team (the other being David Bonney) and it was amazing to see the detail and dedication she puts into a show. No model went on to the catwalk without every bit of make-up and hair getting Michelle’s tick of approval, it was amazing to see the woman in action.
Gail Sorronda never shys away from a bit of fun on the catwalk, and this collection was no different. The hair and make-up for this show reflected Gail’s minimalist black & white style. There was a level of femininity and cuteness to the look, but definitely futuristic. Will we be wearing our brows this way in 15 years? I am scared at the thought.

Skin:After the skin was prepped with Napoleon Complex Skin Renewal Serum and Auto Pilot Pre-Foundation Primer, the make-up artists applied Mighty Concealer Pen to get the skin to one even tone. Followed by Foundation Stick for a full coverage application with a perfectly matte finish.
Brows: As the brows were the ‘statement piece’, the hairs were neatly brushed into place, with China Doll Gel Eyeliner in pure white Alabaster drawn perfectly over the top in a horizontal line.
Is there a short fashion film out there at the moment that Karl Lagerfeld hasn’t directed? We have the third and final Magnum Ice Cream ad starring Rachel Bilson and Baptiste Giabiconi, directed by the Chanel creative director for you right here.
Entitled Applause, Bilson’s costume echos that of the ballet costumes in the ballet thriller Black Swan though the plot is a little less psycho and a little more whimsical. Bilson plays a prima ballerina who just wants to get back to her dressing room to enjoy a Magnum Ice Cream. Instead she’s surrounded by well-wishers and her boyfriend (played by Giabiconi). Eventually she gets to her Magnum Ice Cream and finds that a sweeter treat than the sexy male model boyfriend in a leather jacket.
I don’t know if we agree but we think this is the cutest out of all three Magnum Ice Cream short films by the fashionable trio of Bilson, Giabiconi and Lagerfeld.
