Heidi Klum says America wants her to dress them

One of the challenges Heidi Klum has set for Project Runway contestants has been to redesign US Postal uniforms in season 1, and according to the show’s host, America wants her to redesign their work uniform.

“I go to the same Starbucks every day in Beverly Hills and they’re like, ‘Can you please tell them that we want to have new outfits?’” Heidi said recently. “I sit in American Airlines, same thing. I get it all the time. Those chains or big companies, they always come to me. It would be fun, because so many people would see the results.”

While it’s a cute idea to have Heidi Klum design your work uniform, what experience would she have in fashion design?

More importantly, would Nina Garcia and Michael Kors like it?

I sincerely hope the quote has been misquoted and Starbucks and American Airlines workers don’t want Heidi herself to design their uniforms. Especially with the Van Cleef & Arpels lawsuit against her jewelery designs.

Stephanie Seymour Brant, supermodel now fashion editor

Interview magazine has just announced a new staff member in the form of nineties supermodel, Stephanie Seymour Brant.

The wife of Brant Publications chairman, Peter Brant, has been named a contributing fashion editor for the magazine founded by Any Warhol in 1969.

This isn’t Seymour Brant’s first foray into the publishing world, aside from appearing in over 300 magazine covers, one of the current faces of Louis Vuitton published her first book, Stephanie Seymour’s Beauty Secrets for Dummies in 1998.

It should be interesting how much of an influence Seymour Brant has over the look and feel of the fashion shoots at Interview.

I wonder if she will end up in front of the camera as well as working behind it.

Vogue Italia celebrates Valentino’s last Haute Couture collection

Do you miss Valentino Garavani’s touch at Valentino, or fashion in general yet? It seems like just yesterday when the designer walked down the runway of his last fashion show for his own label followed by dozens of models in Valentino Red gowns.

Well you can re-live his last Haute Couture spring 2008 collection through Vogue Italia in an advertising feature modeled by Alison Nix.

Don’t be confused, the shoot does feature pieces from the last collection, not something from the 90s. At least I think it does.

Linda Evangelista for Prada Fall 2008/09??

Is Russian model, Sasha Pivovarova about to be dethroned by nineties supermodel, Linda Evangelista as the face of Prada for fall winter 2008/09?

That’s what the rumours flying around the web have been saying. There are even reports that Evangelista will be photographed famed photographer Steven Meisel, but it could also be for an upcoming issue of Italian Vogue.

While we’d love to see a new face fronting the Prada advertising campaigns, as well as Evangelista back in the ad campaigns, we’re more inclined to believe that the photoshoot will be for Italian Vogue.

But it’s not the most far flung rumour, after all Chanel and Louis Vuitton have used nineties supermodels in their recent campaigns.

Could you see Linda Evangelista the face of Prada?

Kate Moss reads poetry for Nick Knight

Remember late last year V magazine asked people from all over the world to send flowers for a Kate Moss photoshoot?

Well the images from the Wildflower photoshoot by Nick Knight hit newsstands last month in the 52nd issue of V magazine (with Gwen Stefani on the cover). While the images looked great, it seems that none of the flowers made the spread. What happened to them all?

While we don’t know what happened to the flowers, we now know that Knight had created something way more interesting with Kate Moss for his devoted website visitors - a film created by the Shoe Studio team which blends Kate’s silhouette with swirls, colour and the sound of her voice reading out Roddy Lumsden’s poem, Bloom.

Watch it here

How hypnotic.

Flashback: Kate Moss for CK One

“A fragrance for a man or a women from Calvin Klein” says Kate Moss in this clip that ran in 1995 for the Calvin Klein fragrance, One. It was one of the most popular unisex fragrances of the time, along with CK Be and also the fragrances that launched Kate’s career into the big time.

What do you think of the ads? They don’t look too 1995 - which was 12 years ago. Check out two more ads below.. especially number three where the slogan is:

“The sexy one, the nasty one. I know what you’re thinking, the world one. The male one, the female one, CK One, the fragrance for everyone.”

Vogue’s love affair with Natalia Vodianova and Steven Meisel

Natalia Vodianova may have quit the runway, but she’s still one of the reigning cover girls with four different Vogue’s using her as their cover girl while all the covers shot by friend and famed fashion photographer Steven Meisel.

Vodianova’s first Vogue cover of 2008 was the cover of Vogue Korea’s February 2008 issue with the Russian model sporting a trilby, pink blazer and bright pink lip gloss. The following month she was a romantic gamine with a touch of vintage glamour for Vogue Russia’s March 2008 issue.

Then Vogue Italia used the Russian born British society lady on their April 2008 cover looking every inch the Grecian goddess, or an icon as the cover line screamed. Then British Vogue have just unveiled their May 2008 cover, also featuring Vodianova with her face swathed in a patchwork of fabric. It’s her 6th British Vogue cover, and while it’s not quite the 25 that Kate Moss has under her belt, it’s not a bad (growing) number.

If this stream of Vogue covers say anything, it’s that Vodianova one versatile woman who has connections all over the world and will bring good friends like Meisel along for the ride.

Which is your favourite Vodianova cover, and which Vogue will she pop up on next?

Miranda Kerr signs on to be David Jones’ brand ambassador

Australia’s first Victoria’s Secret model, Miranda Kerr, has reportedly signed a six-figure deal to be the brand ambassador for David Jones, an Australian department store chain.

While the news has not been officially announced, it’s widely believed that the young model has secretly signed on for the deal while she was in Australia over Christmas. It would see her taking over from outgoing brand ambassador, Megan Gale, as the store looks for a “generational change”.

Kerr has made the occasional appearance for the department chain, most recently modeling the more youthful looks in David Jones’ Autumn/Winter 2008 catalogue alongside Gale.

Is there anything this young model can’t do? She models lingerie (while smiling on the runway), has snagged one of Hollywood’s hottest actors, and landed her first major international magazine cover thanks to British Harper’s Bazaar.

Did you know Kate Moss dabbled in acting in the mid to late 1990s?

Before Milla Jovovich stared in The Fifth Element, Elle Macpherson guest starred in Friends and Gemma Ward in The Black Balloon, Kate Moss dabbled in the art of acting in the mid to late nineties - when her star shone very bright thanks to fronting Calvin Klein ads.

The British model appeared in Isaac Mizrahi’s Unzipped in 1995, as herself in French and Saunders in 1996, Catwalk in 1996, Beautopia in 1998, and even dressed up to play Maid Marian/Queen Marian in Blackadder Back & Forth in 1999.

So what was she like as an actress?

Well see below to see for yourself in the clip below where Moss said she just couldn’t say no to some of the roles she was offered. It’s worth watching just to see how young and fresh Moss looked.
