Balloons keep Agyness Deyn modest for Peace

Peace by Ruth Hogben is a film which illustrates how political fashion may not need any clothes is illustrated by Agyness Deyn. Who is wearing nothing but her birthday suit and some semi-sheer balloons to cover her modesty in the film.

This movie is part of a project at ShowStudio to encouraging creative people to use the medium of fashion to convey their political beliefs, agendas and thoughts.

Check out the Ruth Hogben ft Agyness Deyn film here, it is a little NSFW.

A motley crew for Numero 93

Aptly titled The End of Innocence, Numero issue 93 (May 2008) has gathered some up and coming names for this motley crew shoot.

Karlie Kloss, Abbey Lee, and Georgina Stojiljkovic were joined by a very paint covered male model in this shoot that mixes flirty mini dresses with a rough-around-rocky-the-edges made up model. He must have spent more time in the make-up artists chair than the girls did combined!

The contrasts are rather intriguing in this rather unexpected combination. Or have I been reading too mainstream magazines for too long?

Heidi Klum by Jordache - can you spot the Project Runway host?

She may judge fashion designers on Project Runway, but Heidi Klum has her own line of premium denim with Jordache and popped into Bloomingdales last week to launch the collection. But when the models are looking alarmingly similar to you, pouts, hair and all, wouldn’t you be a bit worried?

The Heidi Klum by Jordache collection is stocked exclusively in Bloomingdales with jeans customized to fit every body type and finished with Heidi’s signature clover emblem, intricate inseam stitching and detailed belt looks. Denim aside the spring summer 2008 collection featuring embellished jeweled tops, silk chamois blouses with rosette appliqués and hand-beaded knits.

The collection is set to retail at the almost-affordable price of $140 to $298.

Question is, what ever happened to the lawsuit Van Cleef & Arpel had against Klum using the clover shape as her “emblem” as the release called it?

Kate Moss’ white wedding for Agent Provocateur

As Billy Idol sang, it’s a nice day for a white wedding, so today is an good as any to talk about Kate Moss playing a virginal bride for Agent Provocateur.

As the blogosphere revealed a few weeks ago, Kate Moss was being photographed by Nick Knight for her latest film series for Agent Provocateur, the first of which will launch tomorrow. Kate was chosen to play the virgin bride while Jake and Dinos Chapman (English conceptual artsist) will be introduced into the pivotal roles of the vicars performing the service.

Over the next few nights, ShowStudio will release a series of Nick Knight’s interpretation of Joe Corré’s script in stills and film.

Ohh we can’t wait, but Kate as a virgin bride? Seriously.

Gisele Bundchen is still Forbes top-earning model in 2008

Many had predicted Gisele Bundchen would lose her standing at the top of the Forbes top-earning model list this year since the Brazilian parted ways with Victoria’s Secret, but instead she streaked even further away from her next closest rival, Heidi Klum.

The Project Runway host naturally came in at number two due to her jewellery collection and Victoria’s Secret contact, but her years earnings of $14 million was dwarfed by Gisele’s $35 million, while Kate Moss came in at number three with $7.5 million.

Bundchen’s earnings were reportedly made up from her Ipanema sandals contract, as well as those with Versace, Pantene, Dolce & Gabbana, and a cosmetics giant which cannot be named until July.

New comers to the list was Valentina Zelyaeva and Victoria’s Secret Angels, Miranda Kerr, Isabeli Fontana, and Selita Ebanks, while Alessandra Ambrosio, Shalom Harlow and Jessica Stam fell off the list even though they managed to score some big advertising campaigns for spring summer 2008.

Check out the full list below with their 2007 rankings in brackets

D&G Pre-Fall 2008 goes back to school

Gossip Girl has seemingly inspired the boys at Dolce & Gabanna with their Pre Fall 2008 ads resembling the cast of the popular teen drama series.

Choosing to go with the usual D&G format of bunching together a group of models, the model castings were rather inspired and included some up and coming modeling names. Australia model, Abbey Lee, who has become a regular in the last season or two at D&G was joined by Giedre, Laura Blokhina, Lyoka Tyagnereva, Martha Streck and male model Valentin Savchenko.

The muted colour scheme of this shoot is all a little too private school for me, while the second lot of images (below) seems to send the boys back to a scary world of pale blue suits.

Catherine McNeil for Christian Dior Jewelry

Catherine McNeil, the Giorgio Armani advertising campaign favourite, has branched out to become the face of Christian Dior Jewelry. The Australian model was photographed with luscious brunette locks, complete with a fringe wearing Dior’s collection of fine jewellery for their print campaign.

While I love the shots, I don’t love the jewellery. Sure it’s very pretty and girlie, but it’s nor opulent or luxurious to  me and have a slightly kitsch feel don’t you think?

Stephanie Seymour the Victoria’s Secret Angel to Chantelle spokesperson

Supermodel Stephanie Seymour Bryant has been the face of Victoria’s Secret and is the current spokesperson for French lingerie house, Chantelle, but the new contributing fashion editor for Interview magazine reveals that her real love of lingerie didn’t develop until after her 10 year stint as a Victoria’s Secret Angel.

“In my twenties, I didn’t wear too many bras, or maybe culottes,” she laughed. “I got to appreciate them–their shapes and names and garments–through Azzedine Alaïa.”

“The French really know lingerie, they get it. They understand how a properly fitted, well-designed bra can change your whole shape. A dress that looks blah can be transformed by the right undergarment. ”

It wasn’t until after she finished up with Victoria’s Secret that she discovered her true bra size when in 2000 a friend took her to a lingerie shop to buy a “good and proper bra” because in her twenties she didn’t like them. (Err, what does that say for the brand she fronted first?)

Keep your eye out for the new Chantelle advertising campaign, photographed by Peter Lindbergh.

Chanel Sport S/S 08: Masha Novoselova by Karl Lagerfeld

Chanel Sport’s spring 2008 catalogue imagery really has you wondering who was behind the lenses. Surely it couldn’t be Karl Lagerfeld could it?

But indeed it was, with Kaiser Karl choosing Masha Novoselova to share the limelight with Brad Kroening, whom you may remember partnered with Gemma Ward for the Karl Lagerfeld advertising campaign.

I love that they’re both photographed around the newest Chanel Sport addition, the Chanel bike. Though would you let your boyfriend near it? Would he want to be near if it featured quilted bags on either side of the wheels?

Check out photos below of the pair modelling the Chanel surfboard along with some rather floral sportswear.
