Amsterdam’s 2008 stiletto heel foot race for €10,000

The ‘Stiletto Run’ was held in Amsterdam today down the Dutch city’s most famous fashion street, PC Hooft street.

125 young women entered race each other in the annual race in their stiletto heels - which have to be 9cm or higher - to win €10,000, but it wasn’t a clean race with a lot of pushing and elbowing to get to the end.

“At the start there was a lot of pushing, you really get elbowed over,” said Fauve Stukje, 18, who did not win or place.

The race was won by Tamara Ruben who got to the finishing line after beating everyone along the 350-metre distance.

To get to the finals in Amsterdam, preliminary heats were held in major cities in the Netherlands and Belgium earlier today, but with a therapists told Expatica.com that running on the balls of your feet was not healthy.

“You should only compete if you have spent a year training for the event,” says the therapist.

If I was crazy enough to run the race, I’d wear these bright Scorah Pattullo Victoria Woven Sandals which should hold my feet in. Or I’d just wear them and watch from the sidelines…

Do you play I Spy when watching the latest (fashionable) show?

When watching your favourite television show, do you find yourself getting excited when you know exactly what bag/dress/top/shoes a character is wearing? I do.

After all the hype surrounding Atonement and that green dress, I was so excited to spot Serena van der Woodsen (aka Blake Lively) tote around a zebra print Gucci Indy bag in last nights episode. It was a bag I recognised.

Shame no one around me felt the same.

Do you play I Spy when watching your favourite television show?

Which show is the major culprit, Gossip Girl, Project Runway 4 (after all there is the fabulous BlueFly.com wall), The Hills, Cashmere Mafia or something else?

Gwyneth Paltrow shows off her Balenciaga Moon bag

I’m loving Balenciaga’s Moon bag from their fall 2008 collection. It’s reasonably big, with enough exterior pockets and zips for things like keys and your phone, and comes in a deep burgundy and black, though I’m not sure about the mirror attached.

Gwyneth Paltrow is pictured here with her burgundy Moon bag at the Nutcracker performance by the New York City Ballet with daughter Apple and mother Blythe Danner.

The Balenciaga Moon bag has also been see toted around by Christina Aguilera and Ali Larter in the last few months. Buy it now from MatchesFashion.com for £1,280 in brown or teal.

Chloe, Witchery or Forever 21 shoes?

Last month we pointed out that Witchery’s Alison heels (RRP approx US$130, above middle) were very similar to the Chloe shoes (RRP $615 - above left), but what do you think of these beige Forever 21’s Sophia slingbacks (above right)? They’re even cheaper than the Witchery heels at $20.88! Though not as designer inspired as the Witchery heels as they’re missing the gold band around the heel.

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2007 preview

Thanks to Fashion TV and YouTube, here’s a little preview of Victoria’s Secret 2007 fashion show. The clip opens with the Spice Girls singing, Stop, then Miranda Kerr opens the show - though that will have to be confirmed on when the fashion show screens on December 4 on CBS.

Watch out for the giant Angel wings, a rather slim Heidi Klum, Karolina Kurkova, Selita Ebanks, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Adriana Lima on catwalk, with performances by Will.I.Am and Seal.

While you’re wondering if we’ll see Heidi singing with Seal, also try and calculate how much hairspray would have been used to keep the girls hair so bouncy and if we can get that look at home.

Chloe’s patchwork bag or Witchey’s Nicole bag

Here’s another Chloe or Australian chain store, Witchery item. First it was the Chloe sandals, and now it’s Witchery’s Nicole bag (on sale for AUD$129.95 - approx US$113) that bears a striking resemblance to the Chloe patchwork bag (RRP$2,125 or $1,700 from BlueFly).

While the Chloe patchwork bag never did hit the must-have lists it’s a great everyday bag. Which one would you buy?

It will be a red spring 2008 for Donna Karan

We think Donna Karan is pushing red dresses for spring summer 2008.

Behind the scenes shots of Kate Moss modeling for Donna Karan’s spring 2008 campaign were leaked to the web earlier this week as the supermodel replaces Catherine McNeil as the face of the brand for next season.

Kate is lounging in front of the camera wearing a red halter neck, cinched at the waist with a wide leather belt and a slit all the way up the thigh and buttons undone all the way down to the waist. A few days later, actress Lake Bell (best known for her role in Boston Legal) dons a form fitting red halter on the red carpet at a Barney’s event.

It’s going to be a red Donna Karan summer ladies.

Katie Holmes wears Armani Prive on the red carpet with Tom

Armani Prive has been out in force on the red carpets around the world this past week. Cate Blanchett and Alicia Keys wore fall 2007 Prive gowns at two separate red carpet events, shoes and all.

Now Katie Holmes attended the German premier of Lions for Lambs with husband Tom Cruise in Berlin, Germany wearing a sparkling strapless Armani Prive number. She even paired it with the sparkly bow trimmed heels. Shame the plunging sweetheart neckline was altered so it was less plunging.

Who wore it better, model Natalia Belova on the runway or Katie Holmes on the red carpet?

Irina Lazareanu and Pete Doherty - the frumpy couple

There are no words to describe this couple. Reports are that Irina Lazareanu and Kate Moss’ former flame, Pete Doherty are engaged. Perhaps they are, they seem to be doing well in the odd fashion stakes.

Irina’s appeal as certainly waned on my part. She definitely looks a lot less fabulous than she did at this years CFDA awards, and on the runway recently.
