You’ve got to hand it to Marc Jacobs, he’s certainly modernized the Louis Vuitton brand, first with the graffiti bags by Stephen Sprouse, then the multicolour bags by Takashi Murakami and now a collaboration with Commes des Garcon.

It’s the new Louis Vuitton you’ve come to know and love, with the quirky Japanese twist that Commes des Garcons are known for.

The 6 bags (pictures above) designed by Rei Kawakubo are all in the signature monogram pattern, but have been given a twist. The Mini HL has 6 extra oversized handles, an evening purse also features oversized leather handles and the Papillon is adorned with kawaii animal charms. Vuitton have also put two designs from 1970s back into production again – the Petit Marceau and the Sac 2 Poches - which will also be on sale as part of the celebration of Vuitton being in Japan for 30 years.

The collection will only be available for order at the Louis Vuitton at Comme des Garçons pop up store which opens on September 4th in Tokyo. Unfortunately you won’t be able to phone or email in your orders, but if you can make it to Tokyo this September (yes, it’s during Fashion Week so you may have to do a splash and dash in between fashion week’s) your ordered bag will be delivered to your chosen Louis Vuitton boutique.
