Marchesa branches out into wedding dresses

British fashion label, Marchesa, co-founded by Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman, is branching out from beautiful evening and cocktail gowns into wedding dresses.

The Marchesa bridal collection is already well in development and set to be launched next month. Perhaps at Bridal Fashion Week in New York?

The recently wedded actress-cum-designer, Chapman, created her own gown for her wedding to Mirmax co-founder Harvey Weinstein last December, with Chapman and Craig’s wedding credentials also stretching Coleen McLoughlin’s £100,000 wedding dress for her summer nuptials to English soccer player, Wayne Rooney.

Not a bad start for a brand that was established in 2004.

Jimmy Choo and Dsquared2 launching eye wear

Just when you thought Jimmy Choo’s couldn’t get more popular, the must-have shoe brand has branched out into sunglasses this summer, with Canadian designers Dsquared2 set to launch their collection early next year.

The Jimmy Choo sunglasses collection are all big sunglasses fans had hoped for with 70s and 80s inspired frames where the ears were given special treatment in the form of metallic and gem embellishments, twisted detail.

The best bit is that all sunglasses come in a slick metallic case that can also be used a clutch bag.

Sasha Pivovarova smiles on the cover of Vogue Russia

People often wonder why models never smile on the catwalk, as they’re often photographed scowling at the cameras.

Well here is why.

Pictured here is model-of-the-last-few-seasons, Sasha Pivovarova, on the April 2008 cover of Vogue Russia. There is just something about how her pale Slavic skin contrasts sharply with her dark eye makeup and bold red lips, oh and that gapingly large smile.

While we love to see her happy, perhaps seeing her eyes may have been nice.

Are you loving her smile or are you afraid?

Prada’s Trembled Blossoms, the animated movie short

A fashion video has been doing the rounds for the last month or two, first during New York Fashion Week in February then last week at LA Fashion Week. What it is? It’s the Prada Trembled Blossoms animated movie short.

The 4 minute whimsical animated feature was directed by James Lima and features illustrated nymphs and other woodland creatures turning into pieces from the Prada’s spring 2008 collection.

Now if only you could get your hands on the must-have Prada Fairy bag. Though with reports of it “leaking” perhaps not.

Sassy Item of the Day: Bare Escentuals Shine Control Sheets

Bare Escentuals Shine Control Sheets

Love it because: Every girl blessed with normal to oily skin should always have blotting tissues in their handbag at all times (I can’t go anywhere without mine). Known for their 100% pure mineral makeup, you can’t go wrong with Bare Escentuals Shine Control Sheets for taking off the post lunch shine your forehead has seemed to develop. Just blot instead of adding powder (which gives you that lovely cakey look by 5pm).

Price: $8 for a pack of 30 sheets

Buy it now from: Sephora.com

Prada Sports spring 2008 ad campaign featuring Sasha Pivovarova

Check out Prada Sport’s spring 2008 ad campaign. It features Miuccia Prada’s face of the last few seasons, Sasha Pivovarova alongside modelling up and comers, Ali Stephens, Heidi Mount and Adina Forisz - all dressed in white with their faces partially hidden with caps except for Sasha.

They are all looking amazingly thin and not in need of any form of fitness regime in those tank tops, white trousers and belt.

Gosh this image makes me want to hit the gym. Or at least sign up for a membership to the local pool I will never use.

Yet another Victoria Beckham for Marc Jacobs spring 2008 ad

Will the stream of images from the Victoria Beckham for Marc Jacobs spring 2008 advertising campaign never end?

We all were pleasantly surprised when all we saw of Posh Spice was her legs dangling out of a bag, we giggled when we saw her acting all doll like as she popped out of the bag and a stepped out of a shoe box. But we just don’t have the words for this latest ad.

The creativity and quirkiness in the first two batches were so high that this just doesn’t seem to go. What is with the feathered fringe/bangs topped off with a bow, and then the Marc Jacobs Mika bag she’s holding looks like the Stam bag has been mutated yet again in hope of making a few fast dollars.

What do you think?

Swarovski Crystal engagement ring / USB flash drive

I recently found my must have engagement ring (which will set some poor soul back over $100k) but for the fashion-aware geeks who haven’t found the ring of their dreams, try this Swarovski Crystal engagement ring on for size.

It’s Swarovski’s latest addition to their Active Crystals collaboration with Phillips, which already has spawned crystal USB hearts, locks and head phones.

These rings also come in necklace form, but we’re definitely prefer the rings. After all once the crystals are removed the rings can be joined and the info your storing on it can be transferred to the other ring. Sort of like a coming together of his and hers things?

We’re not sure the specific details like price and in store dates, but keep your eyes peeled to Swarovski.com and you might be able to buy one online.

Natalia Vodianova and Isabeli Fontana to replace Gisele at Versace

Spring has barely sprung but the fall 2008/09 advertising campaign line up are starting to be leaked as news of Natalia Vodianova and Isabeli Fontana taking over from Gisele Bundchen at Versace trickled in.

This will be the first time long-time Calvin Klein face, Vodianova will be fronted a Versace campaign, which was photographed by Mario Testino yesterday in Manhatan with styling done by Brana Wolf.

Question is, did Donatella choose the girls or did Testino? The photographer said to The Daily that “I choose all my girls,” he said. “So of course I think it’s great!”

Either way the spring 2008 ads featuring Gisele would be hard to top, even by a fellow Brazillian bombshell and Russian supermodel.
