Kate Moss to be dropped by Rimmel? The rumours start up again

Kate Moss’ Rimmel contract is being reviewed again, if the rumours are true, because the beauty brand is reportedly looking for a younger face.

The face of Rimmel since 2001, the partnership has weathered a few bouts of controversy during Moss’ drug allegations in 2005, with rumours that Rimmel wanted to replace Moss because she was too old in January 2007, and late last year when there were allegations that Moss’s lashes were computer-enhanced in an advertisement for Rimmel’s MagnifEyes mascara.

Rumoured replacement faces (who are all younger than Moss) are TV presenter Alexa Chung, Bond girl Gemma Arterton, as well as Lily Cole, Daisy Lowe and British model of the moment, Agyness Deyn

“She’s (Moss) been amazing for the brand, but they’ve wanted a fresh face, ” a source told The Mirror. “Alexa is one of the hottest faces out there. Not only is she beautiful, she’s savvy, sexy and has bagloads of attitude. ”

But Rimmel were quick to dispel the rumours.

“Kate remains the face of Rimmel London and will continue to appear in campaigns for the foreseeable future, ” sauid Emmanuelle Bonte of Rimmel. “Rimmel London has no plans to replace Kate. We are very happy with the collaboration.”

Even if the rumours aren’t true, Moss’ contract is set to expire at the end of this year.

Do you think the rumours are true? If so, who do you want to see as the face of Rimmel?

Karl Lagerfeld photographs Raquel Zimmermann for Fendi FW08

Karl Lagerfeld has everyone on the web quite excited - he has been spotted around New York shooting advertising campaigns for the fashion houses he oversees. Claudia Schiffer (sporting a short black bob) was first photographed over the weekend in Central Park for Chanel’s fall campaign, then earlier this week he was aiming his lense at Raquel Zimmermann in Madison Square Park for Fendi’s fall campaign.

This video shows Raquel swinging a Fendi bag (which looks very much like a Chloe Edith) before a giant Fendi logo statue is set up for her to pose in front of. Watch Lagerfeld at work surrounded by dozens of people, can you spot which are the security guards, the Fendi folk and the spectators?

Ashlee Simpson designs a line for Wet Seal

Her boyfriend Peter Wentz is designing a clothing line for Nordstrom (because there is such a big market for his ‘look’?) so it was just a matter of time for Ashlee Simpson to design her own clothing line.

The younger Simpson sister is partnering with Wet Seal to designing a line of tops to coincide with the launch of her third album, Bittersweet World, on April 22.

“Ashlee is a role model for our girl and her fun and flirty sense of style is an inspiration for the line,” said chief executive officer Ed Thomas. “The goal was to deliver affordable fashion, and Ashlee is an ideal partner for this.”

The designs will reportedly be inspired by Ashlee Simpson’s personality, sense of style and album artwork. Each piece displays Ashlee’s signature touch and will be priced in line with Wet Seal merchandise. So “emo” style tops? Shame there won’t be hats and skinny pants included in the collection then.

“I was inspired by so many fun, wonderful things as I was recording BITTERSWEET WORLD and it’s been great to carry through those inspirations into these new shirt designs,” said Ashlee. “I hope my fans love this album and rock out in these shirts!”

She joins the likes of Rachel Bilson (for DKNY) and Kirsten Dunst (for Lutz & Patmos) who announced they’re designing collection with established brands.

Agyness Deyn the face of Reebok’s Freestyle trainer

Reebok’s Freestyle Cities trainers are being relaunched with a new face, Agyness Deyn. Born in the 1980s the Freestyle Cities collection comprises six different trainers, inspired by what Reebok’s fashion capitals of the world: London, New York, Paris, Madrid, Tokyo and New Delhi.

Each city will reportedly have their own ambassadors with French singer Yelle promoting the Paris trainer and dancer Ai Yasuda promoting the Tokyo trainer, the other ambassadors will be unveiled as each shoe is launched in their city.

The original Freestyle trainer was first launched during the aerobics craze and was relaunched last year with images of Jennifer Beals in Flashdance.

The signing of Deyn has raised a few eyebrows as she was Nike’s guest-of-honour at the launch of the new Nike I:D store recently where she reportedly walked away with a pair of couture trainers.

High tops are back sweetie.

Dakota Johnson, Melanie Griffith’s daughter, is an IMG model

Celebrity spawn cum models seems to be the current modeling trend. Think Lou Doillon, Daisy Lowe, and Coco (aka Sting’s daughter, Eliot Pauline Styler Sumner). The latest celebrity spawn to join the modeling ranks is 18-year-old Dakota Johnson, daughter to Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, signing with IMG models.

“I’m very excited about all of this!” she told The Daily. “But I still have to go back to California and finish my final year of high school.”

She’s also been photographed for an upcoming story in Vogue with André Leon Talley overseeing the photoshoot just the other week.

We’re just a little confused by her model card on the IMG models website though, her size is quoted as “32 EU/2 US/4 UK” but if you’re a US 2, doesn’t that mean you are a UK 6?? I do love the photograph capturing a close mother-daughter moment though.

A date with Kristin Davis to the Sex and the City movie premiere

A date with Kristin Davis was up for grabs on eBay with the proceeds going to Oxfam. Why did anyone not tell us that the date included a trip to the Manhattan premiere of the Sex and the City movie and a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes?

The auction ended earlier this week with the winning bid from a woman in Japan who is forking out $52,100. She will arrive at the May 27, 2008 premiere via a chauffeured car service after having her hair and makeup done at Manhattan’s Prive Salon. She will then “meet and greet” with Davis on camera at the premiere after walking down the red carpet in her new Jimmy Choo Felix shoes (RRP £395.00).

How much would you have paid for this opportunity? $52,100 is not a bad price considering someone paid $40,100 for a date with Scarlett Johansson recently.

Did you know Samaire Armstrong has a clothing brand called NARU?

You probably know of Samaire Armstong first as Anna Stern in The O.C. and now as Juliet Darling in Dirty Sexy Money. But did you know the young actress designs clothes for her brand, NARU, in her spare time?

NARU, meaning becoming in Japanese, was developed because “I didn’t want to wear things that other people were wearing. So, I started making clothes that would fall apart less easily,” she reportedly said of her line.

“In other words, I just started really trying to perfect clothes enough so they could be wearable through a whole day of school. Then I started making clothes for friends, and by my Senior prom, I was making prom dresses for my friends”.

No word on what her designs are like (i.e. casual wear, sportswear, etc) but reports are that it has been featured in the likes of Vogue, Elle, W, Cosmogirl and InStyle, with stockists in Hawaii and LA.

Looks like her fashion credentials (Armstrong reportedly studied fashion at one point) are a little more substantial than The O.C. alum, Rachel Bilson, who’s designing her first clothing line with DKNY.
