NYFW Fall 08/09: Alexander Wang
5th February, 2008 - By Helen LeePosted in New York Fashion Week, Video
Alexander Wang has obviously taken cues from his stylist (or muse), model Erin Wasson for fall 2008/09 with edgy and covetable rock cool looks.
Black leather, biker boots, zippers and ripped tights were the look of the season, along with bold eye make up, bed hair tamed with beanies. The models walked to the beat of booming music, marching out in high waisted man-style pants, loose kitted jackets or oversized blazers. Tops were semi-sheer jersey, paired with mini skirts and fitted vests, while a collection of slouchy leather bags were an interesting addition to Wang’s collection.
A distinctively grungy collection, it was a little unexpected to see some pretty feminine ruffled skirts and tops make an appearance, though they were given a touch of toughness with brass zips.
This is one young designer making out a niche for himself.
