Mulberry has announced that it has collaborated with shoe designer Jonathan Kelsey to design a capsule footwear collection for fall 2008.
“Footwear has always been in our plan, and now is the right time,” Lisa Montague, Mulberry’s chief operating officer told WWD. “We love Jonathan’s styles and he’s a good fit for the brand. All the models are based on his lasts - and adapted to Mulberry’s style, using the colors of the season,” she added.
The Jonathan Kelsey for Mulberry collection will debut during London Fashion Week and will consist of a riding boot, an ankle boot, a shoe-boot, a pump and a flat shoe. The collection is due to sell exclusively at Mulberry stores in September 2008.
Montague hinted that Mulberry (who lost Stuart Vevers as its designer director last year), has further plans in mind for Kelsey, who worked at Jimmy Choo before launching his own brand last year.
