Virgin America have been named as the official “Airline of the Angels” for the 2007 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show set to kick off on November 15 , 2007 and will host the first ever in-flight supermodel pajamas party.

“We are very excited about our partnership with Virgin America for this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show,” said Victoria’s Secret spokesperson Monica Mitro. “What better way to kick off the sexiest show on Earth than with the sexiest flight on Earth?”

One of Virgin America’s new planes will fly 27 Victoria Secret models which will include their current crop of Angels; Alessandra Ambrosio, Selita Ebanks, Izabel Goulart, Miranda Kerr, Karolina Kurkova, Adriana Lima, from New York to Los Angeles on November 12.

No doubt men around the world are wondering how they can get on that flight, if they’re lucky enough, they can. Virgin America is giving away three pairs of tickets along with some other goodies. Dries van Noten thinks David Beckham tries too hard

It’s always interesting to hear what fashion designers think about that breed of human, also known as celebrity. Belgian designer, Dries van Noten, doesn’t think David Beckham is stylish, in fact he thinks he tries too hard. I couldn’t agree more.

In his 10 definitive Rules of Style in Details’ Holiday Issue, rule number 3 is:

3. Everybody dresses the way they want to dress. David Beckham - he’s trying very hard. I’m not so fond of his look, but I think a lot of people consider it extremely stylish. So who am I to say it’s unstylish? I’m not a dictator.

He also adds his two cents worth on gay vs straight men’s style and comments on how people should be dressing they’re kids (i.e. NOT as mini-adults!).

Check out the full list at the Details website – what do you think of Jonathan Rhys Meyers on the cover? Hot stuff huh?

November 2007 Vogue covers - Sophie Dahl, Tanya Dziahileva, Kim Basinger, Cindy Crawford

We always hear about the US Vogue cover (this month featuring Jennifer Connelly), but what about the other Vogue’s? Here are my favourite November 2007 Vogue covers. They feature an array of blasts from the past, and a up and coming model - and they’re something different.

  • British Vogue features Sophie Dahl, photographed by Regan Cameron as the model channels Debbie Harry.
  • Vogue Nippon (Japan) features Belarussian model Tanya Dziahileva photographed by Craig McDean.
  • Vogue Deutsch (German) features Kim Basinger photographed by Vincent Peters. And finally…
  • Vogue POCCИЯ (Russia) features Cindy Crawford wrapped in a luscious fur coat, looking as glamorous as ever.

Which one do you like best?

Be a Jessica Simpson clone, smell like the singer/actress

First you could get Jessica Simpson ‘Dessert’ beauty products, remember, the ones you could eat? Then you could dress like the Newlywed star (at least wear her line of beachwear), complete with hair pieces the star endorses/created with her hair stylist Ken Paves.

Now rumor has it you will be able to smell like her. She’s apparently signed a deal with Parlux fragrances (the people who’ve created a seemingly endless line of Paris Hilton fragrances) with a release date set for next summer.

If the rumor is true, she will join the likes of Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez and Sarah Jessica Parker with a fragrance to her name.

Fashion weeks are spreading from city to city

‘I’m going to watch a fashion show’ might sound glamorous for people who aren’t working in the fashion industry who don’t have the privilege of attending some of the world’s biggest runway shows (think Dior, Gucci, Marc Jacobs, Diane von Furstenberg). But for the fashion pack, it gets quite unglamorous when the week (or month) is over as this video by Fashion Television sets out to illustrate

I just love the dash of the fashion pack (including Anna Wintour, quite distinguishable with her trademark bob) out of the fashion show location as soon as the designer takes his last bow.

Did you know that in this spring 2008 runway season, New York Fashion Week saw 221 fashion shows run from 9am to 9pm for the week, with 90 shows back to back in Paris? Besides the four fashion capital, Paris, Milan, New York and London, cities like Stockholm, Copenhagen, Cape Town, Cairo, Madrid, Sau Paolo, Toronto, Dubai, Columbia, Tokyo, Lisbon, Singapore, Montreal, Beijing, and Sydney now have twice yearly fashion weeks of their own.

Fergie is a MAC Viva Glam girl

Big, bold and airbrushed seems to be the way MAC goes with their Viva Glam girls. Black Eyed Peas singer, Stacy ‘Fergie’ Ferguson is the latest star to be named a Viva Glam spokesperson for their aids awareness campaign.

Perhaps we should have seen this one coming, since the surgically enhanced singer was seen using MAC products quite blatantly in her latest music video for Clumsy.

The campaign images and the 2008 MAC Viva Glam colours will be unvealed soon with a new Lipglass added to the range. The singer follows in the footsteps of Dita von Teese, Eve, Christina Aguilera, Lisa Marie Presley, Chloe Sevigny, Linda Evangelista, and Elton John as a Viva Glam spokesperson.

Heidi Klum, Joss Stone and Marc Jacobs staffers pose nude for the NYU school of Medicine

Last year Marc Jacobs and business partner, Robert Duffy photographed Carolyn Murphy, Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell, Julianne Moore, Dita Von Teese and Selma Blair in the nude for limited edition tshirts for cancer research. This year they’ve added the likes of Heidi Klum (she seems to be stripping for magazines a lot of late), Helena Christensen, Eva Mendes, Alison Lohman and Joss Stone to the celebrity roster, as well as four of his own staffers.

Andrew Weyer, Kyle Avila, Chico Clark and Owen Marvel (pictured) also posed nude for photographs which were then printed on to tshirts, with the proceeds going to benefit the New York University School of Medicine, Interdisciplinary Melanoma Cooperative Group.

According to the WWD, Duffy hopes to raise about $500,000 with this new batch of $35 T-shirts (up from $20 last year), which will also go out to other Marc by Marc Jacobs stores worldwide.

I wonder why Marc couldn’t talk his favourite celebrity of the moment, Victoria Beckham, into posing nude for his tshirts…

Temperley’s high-end teepee

If you’re planning on popping by Mauritius to stay at a luxury hotel suite you probably won’t expect to be showed to a teepee. At the Lee Saint Geran resort that may just happen; the resort had Alice Temperley design a Native American style teepee for one of their luxury suite.

It’s no ordinary teepee either, according to WWD, the bejeweled, hand-stitched teepee is 17 feet tall and 20 feet in diameter. It features a Parisian glass chandelier, wooden floor and swags of gold fabric, and is meant for sleeping, spa treatments and just hanging out.

Perhaps this is something for Americans to consider doing this Thanksgiving. If you can afford the suite that is.

Gemma Ward and Vogue India (and their November 2007 cover)

Gemma Ward can’t seem to cut a break with News.com.au at the moment.

The News Limited news site wrote about how the model was causing controversy on blogs and forums for being ‘fat’ a few weeks ago. Please. She’s just not a teenager anymore. Then today they reported that the blog world is not happy about her appearance on the Vogue India premier issue (October 2007).

Even some of our readers agreed with that news.

“I am so disgusted with Vogue India for putting an Aussie on an Indian magazine,” said Rashmi. “They could have had any other emaciated white chick on the cover on later issues it wouldn’t have made a difference.”

Well Rashmi, what do you think of Vogue India’s November cover featuring just Deepika Padukone on a pale blue cover?

Add your two cents worth about the Vogue India premier issue cover here.
