Camilla and Marc’s Juliet silk blouse – get it on sale

Earlier this month I read that Net-A-Porter is now stocking Aussie brand Camilla and Marc, and I was actually quite impressed. Until I realized today that they were stocking pieces that are from the Australian winter 2007 season just finished.

You see, Australia is essentially a season behind the Northern Hemisphere. So we Aussies have winter while the fabulous summer trends are being played out, then finally when it’s summer here all the pretty trends hit our shores.*

Anyway, I digress. While Camilla and Marc is a new label on Net-A-Porter, the new winter pieces in stock is so last season. This gorgeous gold Camilla and Marc silk top is available on Net-A-Porter for £212.77 (approx US$430), but is on sale now at CiaoMeow.com.au for AUD$287 (approx $235).

Which would you prefer paying?

Owen Wilson’s ex girlfriend/Australian designer weighs in on the drama

It seems like all of Owen Wilson’s “friends” have come out of the woodwork to weigh in on the whole drama surrounding the 911 call to his house and subsequent suicide rumours.

Well up and coming Australian designer, Stephanie Conley (also known as former fiancé of Ben Watts – Naomi’s brother) has told the Daily Telegraph about her thoughts on her former flame.

“He’s a very close friend and I am terribly upset about the situation,” Conley told Confidential yesterday. “I’ve saw him very recently and he was on vacation and having such an amazing time. Obviously something has gone very wrong in his personal life since then but he was so happy - I just don’t understand.”

The pair apparently dated for much of 2005, and has remained close friends.

News bites: Dolce & Gabbana are at it again, Williamson sells a stake, Burberry sues

Fashion is naughty, enterprising and annoyed. Here’s the latest fashion designer/brand news bites for the last few days.

  • Dolce & Gabbana can’t help but be a little naughty when it comes to their advertising campaigns. They’ve done it again by making men the objects in their new Fall 2007/08 advertising campaign (pictured above). “Since these images have offended someone, we want to stress that we wanted to represent a strong and dominatrix woman, as is today’s woman. It’s the vision of a dream more than reality, where the whip symbolizes women’s power and where the naked models refer to a classic beauty inspired by Michelangelo,” said Gabbana. [WWD]
  • Matthew Williamson the brand has sold a “key stake” in his company to TSM, an investment firm. “I am thrilled by this deal and cannot wait to see the realisation of the plan that we have put together for the future of Matthew Williamson over the next 5 years,” said Williamson in a statement. Could this mean bigger things? [FashionWireDaily]

The evolution of the faces for Chanel Coco Mademoiselle

For a fragrance that was introduced to the world in 2001, Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle has seen three different women front their advertising campaigns in almost 6 years.

It all started with Belgian model, Anouck Lepere, before Kate Moss took over for several years in a series of fresh and flesh baring ads. Recently Keira Knightley’s Chanel Coco Mademoiselle advertising images were released with the actress appearing nude for the fragrance.

It is interesting to note that Anouck Lepere has reportedly been engaged to Kate Moss’ ex, Jefferson Hack since 2006. I wonder if Keira has (or will have) a link to Jefferson…. she does have a five year contract with Chanel, so she still has time.

For Rocawear: then Naomi Campbell & Victoria Beckham, now Ciara

Ciara is following in the footsteps of Naomi Campbell and Victoria Beckham to be the new face of Jay-Z’s, Rocawear, fronting the urban wear brand’s latest campaign called, I Will Not Lose.

“I love the fact that there’s a meaning with the clothes. That’s my mentality for myself, I will never lose,” she said in a statement. “I love that the line is broadening towards older audiences, because I’m getting older too, so I’m growing with it.”

Does that mean that when Naomi and Victoria were faces in the early-mid 2000’s it was a youth brand?

Kylie Minogue dress, like a challenge from Project Runway

There was a time when Kylie Minogue could not take a step wrong in the fashion stakes, some could say it started in the late 90s and lasted for a good 6 - 7 years thanks to her good friend and former stylist, William Baker.

Now we get pictures of Kylie Minogue trying to channel Marilyn Monroe, or wearing dresses that look like they’ve been created by Project Runway competitors for the Supermarket (aka Innovation, Season 1), Garden Party (Season 2), Waste Not, Want Not (Season 3), challenges. Or perhaps it’s the Grammy’s dress Austin Scarlett designed.

I don’t like how the purple straps are just so binding and ruched… then you have the blue bits and the chains holding it all together in the middle. Scary.

What do you think of Kylie’s dress?

P.S. It is actually an Emanuel Ungaro dress. At least the mini YSL Downtown bag in her hand is super cute…

Banana Republic on the 2007 Teen Choice Awards red carpet

Since High School Musical hasn’t even hit television screens in Australia I barely know who the shows stars are, but I do love that Olesya Rulin (who plays Kesi) is wearing Banana Republic’s puff sleeve satin dress.

I almost bought the 100% silk dress myself when I was in the States because the shade of blue is really pretty, the sleeves are super cute, and the hem detail gives the dress a nicely finished look. Oh and it will only set you back $148.

What do you think of Olesya’s red carpet look?
