A fake Anya Hindmarch ‘I’m not a plastic bag’?
31st July, 2007 - By Helen LeePosted in Bags, Gossip

Remember that bag that created a shopper frenzy when it was released? Well someone has put fakes into production hoping to cash in on the hype. Now you probably think I’ve lost it, as if people are making fakes of a £5 bag that is suppose to help the environment. Well a reader sent in a link that was quite interesting… it was to a online store flogging off all kinds of designer fakes for a fraction of the retail price. And one of the bags they had for sale was a fake Anya Hindmarch ‘I’m not a plastic bag’ bag.
It will set you back US$50 plus $20 postage. Ouch.
Where is this online store you ask? It’s not ebay, and I’m not passing on the link. Somehow I don’t think the fake bag will be any good for the environment. You’ll be better off getting a canvas tote or something from the Gap.
P.S. The fake Anya Hindmarch ‘I’m not a plastic bag’ is the one pictured above left.

Impossible to tell. You have a good eye.

Well that must be the first time that a replica is being blatantly sold to knowing buyers for MORE than the original.

they look identical. the only (and incredibly minute) difference is the “i” in “plastic”. but seriously if you dont put them side by side you can never tell!
after that crazy mayhem happened in Hong Kong in June i totally lost the interest for the bag. it just looks cheap now. and sad. cos people would literally “fight” for the bag. and now nobodies and fashionista-wannabes can be seen out and about carrying the bag. i saw 4 today. they all wore cheap clothes made of polyester. ick! thats enough to put you off the bag.

the photo of the fake could be a bait and switch. it’s too identical to the original. but then the bag might not be that hard to copy anyway.

i got an authentic (so i thought) I’m not a plastic bag purse off ebay.. im really upset because i paid alot of money for it, the one i have has the a/h logo on the front too big and the anya hindmarch london logo on the inside flap too big.. i knew it was a fake the second i looked at it. so if you’re thinking about getting one off there, beware, there are ALOT of fakes.

You know you’re getting a fake when 80% of the bags on Ebay are sold from Asia now, with people with little or no Feedback.
Sellers should really take a unique picture with their screename near the bag and provide some sort of receipt proof as to how they obtained the tote!
Beware of sellers that claim to be from North America too, they just register with a fake address and they’ll ship their items from China.
Now you even have US or Canada residents who buy fake bags from China and resell them claiming they are authentic from the USA !

Even funner was that yesterday I saw a brown VINYL version of the “I am not a plastic bag” bag. I don’t think it was supposed to be ironic, either.
