A fake Anya Hindmarch ‘I’m not a plastic bag’?

Remember that bag that created a shopper frenzy when it was released? Well someone has put fakes into production hoping to cash in on the hype. Now you probably think I’ve lost it, as if people are making fakes of a £5 bag that is suppose to help the environment. Well a reader sent in a link that was quite interesting… it was to a online store flogging off all kinds of designer fakes for a fraction of the retail price. And one of the bags they had for sale was a fake Anya Hindmarch ‘I’m not a plastic bag’ bag.

It will set you back US$50 plus $20 postage. Ouch.

Where is this online store you ask? It’s not ebay, and I’m not passing on the link. Somehow I don’t think the fake bag will be any good for the environment. You’ll be better off getting a canvas tote or something from the Gap.

P.S. The fake Anya Hindmarch ‘I’m not a plastic bag’ is the one pictured above left.

The Prada fringe bag

Perhaps it’s soooo last season to want the Parda fringe bag from the SS07 season, but Mary-Kate Olsen is still carrying her black one, and it’s been seen toted around by the likes of Eva Longoria, Victoria Beckham and Kylie Minogue. Sure it looks like a extra furry dog or something, but there is something intriguing about the black one with it’s nappa lambskin, or the suede tobacco one.

So where can you buy one online?

- ASOS have a beige/tobacco Prada fringe bag for £1,130.
- Bluefly have the black Prada fringe bag marked down to $2,120, and the suede one marked down to $1,560.

Gisele on the cover of Vanity Fair’s Style Issue featuring their 68th Best Dressed list

Gisele Bundchen is the world’s richest model, and now she’s also on the cover of Vanity Fair’s annual September Style Issue (photographed by Mario Testino). Unfortunately that ranking didn’t mean she would get a place in their 68th annual international best dressed list.

Instead the offspring of some of fashion’s biggest names have made the list. Just to name a few.. Bee Shaffer (daughter of Anna Wintour), Ivanka Trump, Charlotte Gainsbourg (daughter of Jane Birkin), and Margherita Missoni were some of VF’s best dressed.

Other interesting names that made the list were couples, David and Victoria Beckham, Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, as well as Lenny Kravitz, Teen Vogue’s Amy Astley, Kate Moss’s baby daddy, Jefferson Hack, Stefano Pilati and Hedi Slimane.

What do you think of this year’s best dressed list? Do you agree?

Check out the full list at VanityFair.com.

Mikhail Gorbachev modelling for Louis Vuitton ads

Getting people’s attention can be a little difficult these days, everyone is becoming immune to risqué advertising, and celebrities fronting campaigns is getting stale (or am I the only one sick of seeing Scarlett Johansson in the Vuitton campaigns?). It was refreshing to see the Mikhail Gorbachev, the last president of the Soviet Union, fronting the latest Louis Vuitton campaign.

It prompts you to look twice, and perhaps even think about that world outside of fashion, like history.

Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf, and Catherine Deneuve also feature in the Louis Vuitton campaign shot by Annie Leibovitz.

What do you think of the campaign?

News bites: Feel sorry for Lindsay, Mariah Carey fragrance launch, Prada sells Alaia, Spades leave Kate Spade

So much news going around who can keep up? Here’s some of our favourites flying around the web in the last few days…

How does Hollywood and the industry give stars like Lindsay Lohan a ‘Poor Little Rich Girl’ complex. Give them freebies and make them think they’re entitled to everything of course! [Jezebel]

Apparently there was a faux M by Mariah Carey fragrance campaign image. Well that was solved when the fragrance was launched in Australia. Again my invite was lost in the mail, my Mariah look-a-like buddy will just have to wait like everyone else for a bottle. [CatwalkQueen]

Prada sells the Alaïa label back to Azzedine Alaïa. Did Prada need the money? Then again with the boom of the Prada and Miumiu label, who needs to talk money. Let’s just assume millions and millions. This is a much better outcome than the whole Roland Mouret name/company kafuffle. [The Daily]

A Marc Jacobs inspired jeweled headband at Topshop

I have been waiting for months to find someone to sells the gorgeous Marc Jacobs jewelled headbands that featured in the spring summer 2007 ready-to-wear runway show (pictured above left). I didn’t have a few hundred dollars to get the real thing (not that I saw them on sale anywhere), and I couldn’t find big enough jewels to DIY it.

Now I don’t have to wait any longer, Topshop have done the designer inspired thing again with a similar mesh headband adorned with jewels on sale for only £10.

Now if only I can justify a the £10 price tag (plus £10 shipping) when I have a holiday coming up…

Did you miss out on buying Josh Goot for Target Australia?

The Josh Goot for Target collection was released last month to very little fanfare (perhaps people were scared off by the high return rate of the Stella for Target Australia collection?). Then after it was released we got word that it was all too big, too long and just too much costly for the product (even though it was a fraction of what Josh Goot’s pieces would have been worth with the Target label).

Well we were told that Target Australia have sent out a promotion through the Vogue Australia database of subscribers with a 25% off offer until August 8. We’d give you more details but then I would have had to have gotten one… who knows if I’m still signed up to get weekly advertising material.

Please go pick up a piece with the discount - they all look so sad hanging on lonely Target shelves. Do keep in mind you will probably want to snip at least 2 inches off the hemline if you buy a dress. The last time I was in Target, there were pieces in all colours and sizes.

[Edit] Lizzie forwarded a copy to me, thanks! Click on the image to get the full sized voucher.

French Vogue makes Anna Wintour young again

Oh wait, it’s model Snejana Onopka in the French Vogue editorial L’Icône photoshoot and styled perfectly by Carine Roitfeld and photographed by Mario Testino.

Now is this a tribute to end all tributes, or is it something else?

See below for more pictures. Yes there’s more. God I love how the sunglasses, the furs and Chanel pieces photograph.

A Hermes Naomi bag?

Luxury French fashion house Hermes are known for three things, the Hermes Kelly (created in the 1930s and renamed for Grace Kelly in the 1950s), the Hermes Birkin (co-designed by Jane Birkin and president Jean-Louis Dumas), and the Hermes scarves.

Now the Style.com blog, Style File, is reporting that another bag collaboration could be in the works with Naomi Campbell working on a Hermes tote that may bear her name.

No doubt if this rumour is true then Naomi would have one in every exotic skin Hermes use (alligator, crocodile, ostrich and lizard). As long as Naomi isn’t in charge of monitoring the speed of the assembling line.

It’s all a bit rich to have Naomi have her own bag, when a style icon like Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis didn’t even a Hermes bag named after her, even though she was a big fan of the Hermes Constance and Trim bags.

What do you think?
