Claudia Shiffer’s Chanel 2.55 bag vs Mischa’s Chanel 2.55 bag

The classic Chanel 2.55 bag seems to getting back in the clutches of some stylish celebrities the last week or so, most likely fueled by the hype surrounding the Chanel Cruise 2008 collection show at Santa Monica airport recently.

So, my question to you is…

Which Chanel 2.55 bag do you prefer? The clear 2.55 Claudia Schiffer is carrying, or Mischa Barton’s 2.55 with metal Chanel logos embossed into the patchwork.

I love Mischa’s because Chanel are constantly revamping the 2.55 and always make one for a slightly younger audience. I just don’t like how you can see right through the clear one (which is the point I suppose), from what I can tell, Schiffer’s doesn’t look like she has much in it. I suppose if you are a supermodel you already have the bonus of good looks on your side.

Get a closer look at 2.55 metal logo charm ones in Chanel’s Spring 2007 Ready-to-Wear advertising campaign staring Freja Beha.

An interview with The Sartorialist

Check out this video clip of The Sartorialist, Scott Schuman, in action. While being interviewed for Fashion Television, he stops in the middle of sentences to ask people if he can just take their photo. With a blog that reportedly gets over 1.3 million page views a month, and a contract to work for publishing giant, Conde Nast, it is intriguing to find out more about a man who made so much more of himself through his blog and photography.

Tom Ford gives Stella McCartney unwanted beauty advice

Designers giving other designers beauty advice? Well that’s just what Tom Ford did, apparently he once gave Stella McCartney beauty advice which the British designer wasn’t quite open to.

“Tom Ford once told me that I should highlight my hair and do my eyebrows, and got all camp on me and I told him to go away,” Stella saaid. “I’m just not that kind of woman. I’ve nothing against that kind of woman, it’s just not a priority and I don’t have the time.”

Well she is a mother and has a business to run – a business that apparently is under orders by the Gucci Group to start making a decent profit.

Tom Ford is one tailored and well presented man, but I’d be a tad uncomfortable if he asked me to a whole new beauty regime in place! Then again my dark hair would look straw-like if I put in highlights…

Gisele, Natasha Poly and Christy Turlington in Fall 2007 ad campaigns

Besides Scarlett Johansson for Louis Vuttion an Lindsay Lohan for Jill Stuart, most of the Fall advertising campaigns feature models of the ’super’ variety.

Aquascutum has signed Gisele Bundchen and Irish actor Jamie Dornan for its Fall 07 campaign (pictured above left). As the WWD reports, Mario Sorrenti snapped the pictures that, appropriately, depict “a weekend of stolen moments, intrigue and trysts,” according to Aquascutum president and chief executive Kim Winser. “Gisele and Jamie are the perfect pairing to communicate our creative vision for the new season.”

Natasha Poly was photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot for Gucci’s Fall ads (pictured above middle) which will be solely dedicated to the season’s must-have accessory, their Indy bag.

A point of passion

Designers and celebrities promoting magazines and not the other way around? Well it’s a novel idea, but Burberry’s Christopher Bailey and Diane von Furstenberg are among some well-known personalities to appear in Conde Nast’s Point of Passion campaign.

“In a world where it is increasingly difficult to engage people,” said Richard D. Beckman, president Conde Nast Media Group, “our magazines are defined by their unique ability to connect to readers through what they love most: their passion points. In a marketplace where the consumer resists the commercial message, that kind of connection is priceless to our advertisers.”

Within their 35 spreads - new ones get unveiled every week - they have well-known personalities modeling in their campaign. Pictured above clockwise from top left: Christopher Bailey, Creative director at Burberry for Men.Style.com; Diane von Furstenberg for Vanity Fair; Natalia Vodianova for Vogue; Eva Longoria for Glamour; and Sharon Stone for Golf.

I spy: the small YSL Downtown tote bag on the arm of Kylie Minogue

I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Yves Saint Laurent Downtown bag, even though celebrities like Kylie Minogue, Naomi Watts, Julianne Moore, Ashlee Simpson and Dita von Teese were seen toting them around down. But even I have to admit that they small version of the YSL Downtown is really adorable.

Kylie Minogue has been spotted in the last week or so toting around various versions of the small YSL downtown tote bag - in metallic gold, black dearskin leather and black patent leather. And the bag is just as petite as Kylie is! It measures 6 ½” x 8½”‘ x 4¾”.

The only thing that disturbs me is the price, while it is more than half the size of the medium sized tote, it’s not half the price. But if you love the mini size and don’t want a large tote, then BlueFly is the place to get them – though you had better hurry, it’s available while stocks last in Camel, Black and Mocha.

Christian Lacroix for La Redoute

Lacroix darling, darling it’s Lacroix.

Every time someone mentions Christian Lacroix to me my mind always flashes back to scenes from Absolutely Fabulous where Eddie is gushing over the French designer. Well the French designer has signed on to do a capsule collection for the French catalogue company, La Redoute.

The 35 piece collection will include clothes and accessories as well as furniture and home decor items. The Lacroix for La Redoute clothes will include a ruffled trenchcoat, a silk taffeta dress with a lace apron overlay and a pair of cowboy-inspired boots, while the home décor collection will include pieces like towels, bed linens, tableware, furniture, light fixtures, rugs and screens.

3 Questions with: Fashionista

Featuring some of SASSYBELLA.com’s favourite bloggers / blogs on the web.

This week we have a chat to Faran at Fashionista.

- Tell us more about Fashionista
Fashionista started because we couldn’t find a fashion website that we completely loved. We see fashion as a constant discussion, and our aim is to make our readers part of that discussion. Style doesn’t just happen on the runways or the red carpets, and it definitely isn’t confined to the corporate board rooms and the design studios. It happens every time you open your closet. Our aim is to give a voice to that idea.

Our other aim is to use Fashionista to meet hot boys like Adam Brody (whom we did meet, last month).

- What is your favourite job to do for the blog?
I love giving space to new designers on the site, and I love stopping people on the street to discuss their outfits. Reading everyone’s comments is also amazing. I don’t agree with all of them but it’s the greatest compliment to the site that so many people want to get involved in our discussions.

- What do you think is the best and worst thing about the fashion industry?
The best thing is the way that fashion and style can enhance the way people think and feel about themselves and their world.
