Celebrities and Miijo know it’s all in the accessorises

We all know about Famous Fashions Found, and now there is a new online shop that shows us that all we need is some quirky, beautiful or simply stylish accessories to complete and outfit.

Miijo, a new-ish online store has a great selection of accessories you can buy like a Botkier Bianca satchel like Lindsay Lohan’s, it’s a classic style that you will be toting around for years to come - way longer than Lindsay will be. Then there is the super adborable White Trash Cute as a Button charm as seen on Christina Aguilera, a Made U Look Rocket tshirt like Jessica Simpson’s, or a Dogeared Wishbone necklace like Mischa Barton’s.

Behind the scenes of Kate Moss for Topshop

Lily Allen might think Kate Moss isn’t a good role model, and that “that f****** billionaire who’s thrown a load of money at her so we can get to see what her wardrobe is like is madness.”

But there is no denying that the Kate Moss for Topshop collection is gaining momentum just like the Roland Mouret for Topshop collection did. In their latest podcast, Topshop takes us behind-the-scenes to catch a glimpse of Kate and the Topshop buying and design teams meet for the second round of fittings. We also find out that the pattern on the jeans was inspired by some of Kate’s tattoos.

What do you think? I had never heard Kate Moss talk with her regular voice before - her accent is rather hard to get use to!

Gareth Pugh’s life isn’t all glamour - he lives on £7,500

He’s only 25 and is fast becoming one of the new waves of les enfant terrible like his predecessors, John Galliano, John Gaultier and Vivienne Westwood. Gareth Pugh claims he hasn’t sold a single dress and is discovering the hardship suffered by designers as they first start out.

“My life is one long financial struggle. Topshop’s New Generation gives me £7,500 and I live on that,” he tells Style Magazine. “I’ve never had a heated studio. I’ve got two plug points, which have to serve sewing machines, irons, spotlights and music. If I overload them with heaters, everything blows.”

Living situation aside, it is great to see how far Gareth has come from his Fashion House (a fashion designer reality TV show competition that ran on the UK’s Channel 4 a few years ago) days. I loved his crazy and imaginative designs then, and I still love them now.

Apparently he plans to “Do for catsuits what Calvin Klein did for pants.”

Well if Anna Wintour is one of his biggest fans, you never know what this up and coming Britian designer will come up with next. We could be wearing catsuits in a few years.

Not going to fat camp this summer? Go to Fashion Camp

Summer camp seems to be a huge deal in America, and from the country that spawned fat camp, comes Fashion Camp NYC. Their aim to bring fashion to life for Manhattan teens aged 14 to 18 with camp counselors to include fashion executives from Coach, Victoria’s Secret, American Eagle, Tommy Hilfiger and Cole Haan.

Now that is a camp I want to go to! Shame I’m not 18 anymore…

Anyway, back to the camp… Fashion Camp NYC is due to debut this August, with campers camping out in midtown Manhattan. They will be taught by, have their projects reviewed by, and be able to meet and network with the entire faculty.

“We are excited to offer hands on industry experience to teens and give them access to heavy hitters in the fashion industry.” said Gordon Josey, Director of Fashion Camp NYC.

Tuition for Fashion Camp NYC is $1,095 and enrollment is open now!

It’s dark lips for Lindsay Lohan and Scarlett Johansson

With both US GQ and US Vogue embracing this new lip colour trend on the covers of their new issues by painting Lindsay Lohan and Scarlett Johansson’s lips dark for the covers.

You have to admit this is a pretty good indication that dark coloured lips reminiscent of the mid 90s dark lips trend are really coming back in for the cooler months of the year. Unless, like Cathy Hoyrn, you think US Vogue isn’t as trend setting as they use to be.

What do you think of the dark lip trend? I personally can’t wait for the Peter Som and Lancome plum coloured lipstick to come out. But I think Scarlett’s lips are too dark, makes her look a bit goth.

Thinking of giving this trend a go? Try going a few shades darker with the Clairns Le Rouge lipstick from AdoreBeauty.com.au (pictured above) before jumping straight into the deep end with something really dark.

I spy: the Yves Saint Laurent Downtown Bag

What is it about the Yves Saint Laurent Downtown tote bag that has it creeping slowly on the arms of more and more celebrities in the past few weeks? From Kylie Minogue, Naomi Watts, Salma Hayek, Jessica Biel, Ashlee Simpson, Jennifer Lopez, and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Celebrities aside, this bag doesn’t really appeal to me because of it’s lack of structure and it’s asymmetric shape. The name, Downtown, does suit the slouchy shape of the bag down to a tee, while the gold buckle and stud hardware adds a subtle downtown cool vibe to the bag without going over the top.

I love the checked canvas YSL Downtown bag Ashlee Simpson is toting (she also has the bag in red). But in any other colour it just seems like a rather plain-rocker bag that isn’t screaming “you should pay $1495 for me now“. Looks aside, the Yves Saint Laurent Downtown comes in a medium and large size, and the medium is already quite roomy for a day bag, and like most other large ‘it’ bags, the large Downtown would work best as a weekend bag than a everyday bag. Because as we all know, big bags are bad for our posture or shoulders.

What do you think? Would you buy it? If so in a patent leather for $1295, a metallic leather for $1595, or in cervo montana leather for $1495? They’re still on stock at NeimanMarcus.com, so get in now if your in the market for one.

As for me, I think I might stick to lusting after a Chanel 2.55 bag (in black, then red, then white - in my dreams of course) and a Chloe Bay bag.

Pete Doherty on the cover of Vogue Homme

Now I know I already ranted about Pete Doherty landing the cover of Vogue Home on CatwalkQueen, but I just had to mention it again here, after all I seem to be on a Vogue-roll at the moment. So I’ll keep it up with one more post about Vogue.

How dull I know. But why Pete? What has he done that could warrant this pork pie hat wearing guy be a cover boy? Sure editor Carine Roitfeld is use to using sometimes controversial imagery on the covers of French Vogue, but this isn’t French Vogue. It’s suppose to me a men’s life and style magazine.

Pete is not stylish, not inspirational, or even astounding to warrant a magazine cover. Unless you count the fact that he somehow managed to get Kate Moss to fall for him.

That’s just what I think. What do you think of the cover?

What do you want to see?

For our long time readers, you would have seen SASSYBELLA.com grow and change over the years, from a domain that included fashion and beauty articles to the blog-a-zine you see today. We’ve covered fashion shows behind the scenes, given beauty and fashion tips, and now the blog you’re reading has gained in so much popularity that I try and update at least once a day.

Now that SASSYBELLA.com had a bit of a nip and tuck I’ve decided we need more indepth articles about things you want to read more about.

So… comment or email me to let me know what you want to read about. Both on the blog and on the rest of the site. Here’s some questions I’d love to hear your thoughts on, as well as anything else on your mind!

  • Who are your favourite designers?
  • What do you love / hate about fashion?
  • What do you want to know more about?
  • What would you change about fashion, or the industry?

I’d love to hear your thoughts! xx
