Call me in 2007 on my Prada mobile

It’s not the first time that a fashion house has dabbled in the mobile phone world. After all Dolce & Gabbanna partnered with Motorola to redesign the Gold Razr.

Prada are taking it one step further by partnering with LG to develop an iconic forward-thinking mobile phone reported the Daily.

The first Prada telephone by LG will combine high-end technology with avant-garde design, to create a forward-thinking product whose focus is on the key elements inside the phone, such as software, user interface, and music, as well as its look; for example, an advanced touch interface eliminates the conventional keypad.

A price for the unit was not disclosed. The initial launch is planned for distribution starting in Europe—first in Italy, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany—followed by Asian locations such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore.

“As we do with ready-to-wear and accessories, we were looking at a break-through,” said Patrizio Bertelli, president & CEO of Prada. “Consistently with our approach, we are not branding an existing product; rather, Miuccia (Prada) and I have been working with LG to give this new phone a very strong character and unique style, both in its contents and in its design.”

Besides Dolce & Gabanna’s partnership with Motorola, Derek Lam has also had a fleeting partnership with a phone manufacturer. He once gave away free Samsung mobiles in certain front row goody bags at his show after creating a new phone cover for Samsung.

No word on if and when the Prada / LG phone will be released in Australia, but if you know anyone popping overseas in early 2007, I’d ask them to pick one up for you. Or trawl eBay.

So who brought the Audrey Hepburn Givenchy dress?

Rumour has it that the little black dress Audrey Hepburn made famous in Breakfast at Tiffany’s was bought by a WAG - a Wife and Girfriend of a English soccer player.

That is, either Victoria Beckham or Coleen McLoughlin who are both “huge fans of the screen icon who wore the sleeveless dress in her role as Holly Golightly in the 1961 movie.”

The Givenchy fur lined black dress was sold at Christies earlier this month to a telephone buyer for £410,000.

Well if Posh wants to fork out that much for a perfect LBD then good one her. At least she can afford it.

I Spy: The Marc Jacobs Hudson

Is the Marc Jacobs Hudson an IT bag? It has been around for a few months and hasn’t experience the same over exposure as some other MJ bags.

Nor is it all that striking. Unless you count the tonal leather striped trim. But it has been carried around town by Christina Ricci, Carmen Electra and Nicky Hilton.

Love it or hate is, there is something about it’s supple pleated leather, striped trim and gold hardware that attracts the eye.

It’s a chic carry all for downtown girls on the run.

The Hudson is available now online at Bergdorf Goodman.

You could soon smell like… Kate Moss

The WWD have reported that we could soon be smelling like Kate Moss with news that she may have signed a fragrance licensing deal with… who else, the company that has signed up every other celebrity for fragrance deals, Coty Inc.

The news follows hot on the heels of Gwen Stefani announcing her global licensing deal with Coty to develop and market her own line of fragrances,

Word at CosmeticsDesign.com is that Moss has been talking to Coty about launching her own beauty range, and not just a fragrance.

Moss already ‘works’ for Coty, who owns Rimmel London, which she is the spokesperson and face of. So her own fragrance with the company may not be too hard to imagine.

After announcing a few months ago her plans to design a collection for UK fast fashion brand, TopShop, Moss is going to be a busy woman in 2007 if the fragrance rumours are true.

The question is, we all want to dress like Kate Moss. But do you want to smell like Kate Moss?

Marc Jacobs moves to London while Alberta Ferretti moves to NY

With the Fall 2007 shows just a mere 2 months away, stories are flying around the web about the Marc by Marc Jacobs show moving to London and Alberta Ferritti showing Philosophy by Alberta Ferritti in New York.

Plans are underway for Marc Jacobs to show his junior line in London, to coincide with the opening of the first MJ flagship store in Mayfair which is due to open “shortly before London fashion week” the FWD reports.

“Jacobs’ staff are currently scouting for locations in London, though insiders stress that unless the designer and company president Robert Duffy find the exact space that corresponds to their oeuvre, they still may not undertake the move.

“Any move would be a one-off deal, and the designer would repatriate this collection back to New York calendar in September 2007.”

While Marc Jacobs is leaving New York temporarily, Alberta Ferretti is planning on taking a bite out of the Big Apple in February. She plans to show her Philosophy by Alberta Ferretti collection at New York Fashion Week.

Ferretti had been mulling over the decision for over a year which was followed by advice given to him by Vogue Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour.

Be a Barbie girl in Diane Von Furstenberg’s world

Diane Von Furstenberg has followed the footsteps of fellow designers Carolina Herrera, Badgley Mischka. Dooney & Bourke, and Monique L’Huillier by designing an outfit for the female icon of all icons.

Barbie.

Modeling it off a dress from her Spring 2006 runway collection (pictured right), Barbie is outfitted in the Jeanne Wrap Dress in Giant Twigs Fuchsia, complete with ornate jewellery, oversized white handbag, a passport and a DVF monogrammed suitcase.

And as an added bonus, if you love Barbie’s oufit and wanted a life sized version for yourself, you can buy the limited edition dress from selected DVF boutiques or at the Diane Von Firstenberg website.

Yes, you too can be a Barbie girl in a Barbie world, wearing Diane Von Furstenberg of course.

Proenza Schouler to design for Go Target AND Lancome?

The Proenza Schouler for the Spring 07 Go Target range (pictured above) is hotly anticipated by all fashionistas, both in and outside of the USA.

And there could be one more thing to watch out for. A Proenza Schouler lipstick.

The buzz in beauty circles is that the designers—whose runway shows have been sponsored by Lancôme the past two seasons—have collaborated with the beauty giant’s international artistic director, Gucci Westman, to create a limited-edition Proenza Schouler lipstick based on the pale neon pink hue featured on the lips of the models that walked the duo’s Spring 2007 runway show.

It will hit stores as a “ultra limited-edition lipstick” according to The Daily and is expected to debut early next year. If indeed there is a Proenza Schouler lipstick in the works.

Scarlett Johansson for Louis Vuitton Spring 2007

One of the shots of Scarlett Johansson for Louis Vuitton Spring 2007 has been revealed by the WWD.com.

The romantic campaign shows the actress dresses in underwear and carrying a Louis Vuitton tote filled with flowers. Scarlett is holding on to a rope like tarzan would, with her lips and hair tinted pink.

She was rumoured to have beaten out Lindsay Lohan for the role and surprised the set crew with her pink hair.

But it suited Vuitton artistic director Marc Jacobs just fine, said the WWD. “She looks like the French coquette,” Jacobs said of Johansson’s appearance in Vuitton’s next campaign, slated to break in February magazines.

“It’s just fresh, very romantic and extremely pretty.”

Scarlett’s campaign isn’t the only one for Vuitton next season. There is also a dedicated campaign for Vuitton’s iconic “Nomade” leather featuring model Gemma Ward and photographed by Alas and Piggott. It will appear in select titles this month and next.
