Gwyneth goes back to work and into a pair of Christian Louboutin Bruges

Gwyneth Paltrow joins the Christian Louboutin Bruges brigade as she hits the promotional trail for her latest Estee Lauder offering – Pleasures by Gwyneth Paltrow.

Some of the profit from the sales of the limited edition Pleasures bath products will go towards Lauder’s Breast Cancer Research Foundation, which has raised $140 million since ‘93.

I don’t think the Bruges suit Paltrow at all.

I’m still amazed that you can still buy Bruges online… I suppose the retail price is a slight deterrent for those of us who aren’t earning millions of dollars a movie.

Vivienne Westwood for Nine West

“I’d like to change the world” said British designer Vivienne Westwood (pictured right).

The queen of tartan is largely responsible for the new wave of modern punk fashions that began in 1970s London, and is in New York to introduce her limited-edition collection for the US shoe retailer Nine West.

“It’s a way to come to America,” she told ELLE.com. “Now people have to come to England to buy my stuff. And everybody can buy this—it’s affordable,” she said before urging, “get what you can—it’s four shoes, boots and two bags.”

She is the first designer off the rank in Nine West’s Project Front Row, and will be joined by Thakoon in October and Sophia Kokosalaki in November who have also created collections for the top 20 Nine West stores and 40 Macy’s stores in the USA and the Nine West website.

With pieces on sale for a fraction of what you would normally pay for a Vivienne Westwood piece, no doubt the shoes are being given more than a helping hand to walk out the shop doors.

Kate Moss: From disgraced supermodel to TopShop designer

She always said she would like to design clothes one day, well that day has come.

Kate Moss has signed a deal with UK chain store, TopShop, to create a clothing line that will debut in Spring 2007.

TopShop announced the deal that is reportedly worth over $3 million with all Topshop stores to stock the designs. This follows an announcement that week that TopShop were opening a flagship store in New York.

“I love what they stand for and am very excited at the thought of working with them. It’s going to be great fun.”

Moss’ first creations, expected to include basics such as bags, jeans and vests, are due in shops in April 2007.

Homeless to wear Tight Knickers

Who would have thought that homeless people would be given free designer gear?

Well Australian sweetwear label Tight Knickers will “roam the streets every Monday giving away its clothing until Christmas,” according to the SMH.

Designer Jonathan Pease said he and co-designer Jesse Margolis wanted the stunt to draw attention to the number of people living on the streets.

The idea for clothing the homeless came to the Tight Knickers team a few weeks ago, when they were filming a video. They hit the streets with a camera to ask people what they thought about Tight Knickers and noticed how many people lived on the streets.

“We all usually drive and it had never occurred to us just how many homeless people there are in Sydney; you just don’t see them when you are driving,” Mr Pease said.

“The so-called hidden homeless is definitely an issue that people would prefer to ignore. Our long-term goal is to heighten awareness of the issue and break down some of the barriers between us and them.”

The label has also launched a competition asking fans: what does Tight Knickers mean to you? And until Christmas Day, respondents that are deemed worthy will win clothes of the labels summer collection while one lucky respondent gets an exotic massage from the brand’s pattern cutter (whether he or she is any good is yet to be determined). All responses should be emailed to ideas@tightknickers.com.

With fans that include names like Kate Bosworth and Kate Moss and T-shirts with slogans such as “I am afraid of Americans” and “I only kill for Jimmy Choo” no wonder they have a cult following among the streetwear crowd.

Sarah Michelle Gellar steals… nail polish

L to R: Sarah Michelle Gellar at Manolo Blahnik’s Personal Appearance At Bergdorf Goodman, at the Marchesa Spring 2007 Fashion Show, and Marie Claire’s “Haute Shopping Soho”

She’s starring in a movie called Addicted, so why not be get a little addicted with black nail polish. And it’s not just any black nail polish, Chanel black nail polish.

Sarah Michelle Gellar was ‘outed’ by her publicist at Marie Claire’s Haute Shopping Party in New York for stealing a bottle of her cult Black Satin polish.

“Want to know what she’s obsessed with? Chanel black nail polish! It’s sold out in the United States. She stole some from someone,” Leslie Sloane Zelnik revealed to Lowdown as Gellar listened at Wednesday’s Marie Claire Haute Shopping party in the SoHo loft of financier Henry Buhl. Patting her black shoulder bag, Zelnik added, “I have it in my purse.”

The diminutive actress and Marie Claire cover girl - teetering on 4-inch Prada platform pumps that she insisted are “the most comfortable shoes I own” - told Lowdown: “My publicist just ratted me out for being the thief that I actually am! But when you’re talking about black Chanel nail polish, what are you going to do?”

If you have to be obsessed with something then it had better be Chanel I say.

Shame that Chanel’s Black Satin nail polish has a virtually limited-edition status since they released it.

Gellar has been spotted wearing nothing but black nail polish in the last few days, going from fashion week show to fashion week events with her vamp coloured nails.

Don’t wash for flawless skin says Beyonce

Clogged pores filled with pollution and make up. Sounds lovely Beyonce.

She recently told a British music magazine that she puts her flawless skin down to the fact that she doesn’t was her face with soap or cleansers.

“I don’t wash my face with soaps or put on lotions. It’s the truth.”

She also insists it is important to eat all the food in the fridge. “I think eating healthily and staying away from bad food is also important,” she added.

Hmmm… I don’t think I’ll be running to Beyonce for beauty advice any time soon. Wouldn’t it be scary waking up next to her when she has day old make up still on?

Gwyneth Paltrow does her bit for charity at Prada

It’s good to see stars actually paying for their purchases in designer stores.

Gwyneth Paltrow was snapped the other day shopping with her RED American Express credit card at Prada.

The American Express RED has only launched in the UK and the American Express will donate a percentage of your yearly spend to Global Fund financed programs in Africa which helps support women and children affected by HIV/AIDS

It’s amusing to see that Gwyneth walks out of Prada flashing the credit card though… staged much?

Though it isn’t the only charity work she is doing…

Fashion Queen Bee Anna Wintour with Roger Federer at Oscar de la Renta

After Anna Wintour showed her support of Roger Federer in his bid to win the US Open, Roger returned the favour by attending New York Fashion Week with the Vogue Editor in Chief.

Federer and his girlfriend Mirka Vavrineck sat between Wintour at the Oscar de la Renta Spring 2007 show.

“He watched open-mouthed in the front row, clearly digging the show, and produced a huge grin when a model stopped in her tracks to present him with a bouquet of roses,” according to the FWD.

Federer seemed to be on such good terms with Wintour that she supposedly greeted him with a hug and a pat on the back. The pair looked quite sharp with Wintour wearing a black and white Oscar de la Renta dress, while the Swiss tennis World Number 1 traded his tennis whites for a navy suit and shirt.

As for what happened on the catwalk, well de la Renta did what he does best, make women look beautiful. The dresses were ladylike and classic, with floral patterns and embroidery and accessorized with Lucite necklaces.

At 72 years old the master of style and class seems like he will be doing this forever and has dressed some of the world’s most glamourous women, including Jackie Kennedy Onassis. With large beehive hair and Sixties shades it the show had a few Jackie O moments.
