There’s only 2 more days to go before the action moves to London where tributes to Alexander McQueen will be flowing and the hole left from the closure of Luella will be evident.

Doesn’t this picture just shout out CAPTION ME?!?
I was trying to watch a video of Victoria Beckham speech about her Fall/Winter 2010 collection of dresses at her New York Fashion Week presentation on YouTube but of course she’s sitting next to Vogue’s Grace Coddington and Hamish Bowles as well as The Telegraph’s Hilary Alexander so how can one be expected to pay attention to Posh Spice? Ok so her latest collection of dresses is beautiful, but Grace’s expressions are priceless because she goes from bored to amused to intrigued to blank in seconds. Watch it for yourself below.
Yes this is another New York Fashion Week-lite Fall/Winter 2010 edition. Here’s our round up of the best shows from day 2 – 4, and instead of flicking through slideshows (unless you really love the collection) here’s the videos!

The good thing about ready-to-wear shows from a beauty perspective is that, like the clothes, most of the looks won’t get you arrested if you decide to try them on your next night out. New York Fashion Week’s spring 2010 beauty trends are easy to get your head (and makeup brushes) around. Kate Morris reports.
For the eyes it’s all about bronze.
We saw this at Narciso Rodriguez, Diane von Furstenberg, Rag & Bone, Thakoon and Zac Posen, and it’s basically a shimmering shade of bronze (veering either towards copper, gold or brick if you like) applied both on the upper and lower lids. No eyeliner. Mascara only if you must. Bear in mind that the warmer the bronze shade (i.e. the more red undertone it has), the more on-trend you will be, but the greater the risk of looking like you haven’t slept in a week. Shades to try: BECCA eyeshadows in Brocade (cool bronze), Damask (copper gold) or Jacquard (rich warm brick-bronze).
For lips, by and large it’s Nude City.
Most shows went with either a nude lipstick (Donna Karan, Diane von Furstenberg) or a barely-there stain (Alexander Wang); both were applied sparingly with a lip brush for a not-really-wearing-anything look. Benefit lipstick in Lady’s Choice or Laura Mercer Lip Stain in Shy Pink or Peach Glaze are both good options.
Young, cool, quirky. It describes Marc by Marc Jacobs down to the T – every season. But his spring 2010 collection at New York Fashion Week seemed a little extra special, perhaps because it played on some of the fun and flirty accessories that made headlines earlier this year. Namely the Louis Vuitton bunny ears.
This season it was almost a remake of his Louis Vuitton Fall 2009 collection for a younger, cooler crowd with over sized bows in every colour adorning models heads. It was a show of prints of all shapes and sizes, it seems that one simply cannot escape the fact that Spring 2010 will be bright and very colourful.
When you think you’re the hottest thing about town, you also think you can do whatever you like. Lindsay Lohan was spotted bringing an entourage with her to G-Star’s New York Fashion Week show this week. But after seeing where she was seated, she decided to do some rearranging, flicking the seating cards for Christian Siriano and Taylor Momsen to the floor, then snarled at show producers when approached. He’s one of the stalwarts of the all-American sportswear look and for spring 2010 Narciso Rodriguez didn’t his fans down with sleek pieces featuring sophisticated colour blocking detail. But he loosened up the silhouette with airy pieces that floated around the models body, it was a perfect example of the level of sophistication Rodiguez is known and loved for. [Youtube: MBFWNewYork]
Inspired by Queensland’s Great Barrier Reef, Kit Willow took us on romantic journey with her spring 2010 collection at New York Fashion Week.
While we’ve come to expect beautiful collections from one of Australia’s premier designers, Willow took my breath away when the heavily embellished jackets with structured shoulders stepped out on to the runway. Turning to the ocean for inspiration, Willow adorned her garments with mother-of-pearl buttons, which shimmered with all sorts of underwater secrets as they shone under the bright runway lights. It was fresh and inspired, especially after seasons of heavy metal embellishments. In turn it was a more romantic and mature collection from the Aussie, though I do question some of the figure hugging floral pieces in teal and brown with brown being a strange choice for spring.
He received rave reviews for his feminine and theatrical collection with WWD called Marc Jacobs‘ spring 2010 collection a “masterfully audacious collection .. in a fantastical Coppelia-meets-Pierrot-meets-G.I. Joe-meets-geisha-meets-Americana-meets-Comme des Garcons kind of way.” You really have to see the show to believe it. Watch out for Katie Love, BryanBoy and that other gossip (and wannabe fashion) blogger who shall not be named. [YouTube: Style.com]
He’s not showing at New York Fashion Week but Gareth Pugh is in town to show off his latest fashion film, created in collaboration with Ruth Hogben. It was a preview of the show that is set to be shown in a few weeks in Paris and he took inspiration from the four elements, earth, wind, fire and water. Watch and try to guess what Pugh will show next. [ShowStudio]
Melbourne-born designer, Toni Maticevski showed his spring 2010 collection at New York Fashion Week to love-it-or-hate-it reviews. But once a fan, you will always a fan of his ethereal designs. This season he showed beautifully tailored separates and architectural gowns with elaborate tulle flowers exploding over paint splattered fabrics and Grecian ball gowns.
