Abbey Lee Kershaw for Portmans, behind the scenes at the New York City photoshoot

It’s a love affair that has lasted a few seasons now – Abbey Lee Kershaw for Portmans. The Australian fashion chain recently shot a new ad campaign with the peroxide blonde model. Styled again by Christine Centenera and photographed by Matt Jones, the photoshoot shows off the bold inject of red in the new campaign.

It was a family affair for the Portmans team, not only with the same model, stylist and photographer on board, but Abbey Lee’s dad, Kim Kershaw, was visiting her in New York and came along to watch the photo shoot. He reportedly gave her hugs in between shots – adorable – and the crew had an amazing time together.

“The Portmans team had me dance for them with a tambourine in a tropical bar for this last shot,” Kershaw says. “It made me smile and was a nice way to end the day.”

Behind the scene at the Milla Jovovich for 2012 Campari Calendar shoot

Ever the tease, Campari have just released behind the scenes images from the Milla Jovovich 2012 calendar shoot. Set to be officially launched next week, these behind the scenes images have been release early for us all to dissect and analyse until our hearts content. Though they don’t reveal much, Jovovich sports an afro in some pictures while there is an abundance of bright bold colours in the makeup and clothes.

The 2012 Campari Calendar starring Milla Jovovich was shot by Dimitri Daniloff and had the largest studio production in the history of the calendar. Not surprising when at least 12 looks are required, so a team of stylists, special effects people, set designers and makeup artists were needed on hand.

The calendar will be unveiled next Thursday in Milan – any one fancy getting on a plane to try and sneak into the party?

First Look: Miranda Kerr and Jamie Bochert for Balenciaga Pre Spring/Summer 2012

Paris Fashion Week is only a few weeks away and while we’re busy putting together our London Fashion Week coverage, we take a break to check out what Nicolas Ghesquiere has created for the house of Balenciaga for Pre-Spring 2012 (also known as Resort 2012).

Proving that strong shoulders are not going anywhere, Ghesquiere designed a collection that is full of long soft lines with dropped waist lines. Almost every look features pleated detail in the skirts, trousers, jackets and dresses, with a muted colour palette of rust, brown and black. Splashes of pale blue and a strong red print keep the collection from looking stale as it lacks a lot of the sharp edginess that a main season collection usually has.

For the look book and the accompanying video ad, Ghesquiere has chosen his favourite models of the moment to star: Miranda Kerr, Milou, Jamie Bochert, Zuzanna Bijoch, Nyasha and Colinne Michaelis. Directed by Steven Meisel the campaign sticks to the colour palette and involved the models stalking from room to room as their outfits interchange and they take various stumbles as they fade into the background.

There is one thing designers and fashion brands from cooler climates know how to do well, and that’s beautiful winter wear. Mexx Canada is no different, the retail chain have just released their Fall/Winter 2011 ad campaign starring Australian model Elyse Taylor, Olga Boiko, Goban Baird and Joost Van Der Hulst.

Shot recently in New York City the Mexx Canada Fall/Winter 2011 ad campaign brings a romantic and playful spirit to the new season. Styled by Conrad Nadeau and photographed by Ishi, the campaign shows off the sleek and sophisticated pieces that will take you from work to play – we have our eye on the coats and gloves.

The Mexx name comes from the two brands that came together in 1986 Moustache (for men) and Emanuelle (for women) were united with two kisses to form: M(oustache) + E(manuelle) + XX = MEXX.

Gemma Ward lands another acting role in The Great Gatsby remake

Sydney is full of star studded celebrities right now with Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan and Isla Fisher in town thanks to the remake of The Great Gatsby and one of our favourite models/actresses will be joining them on set. Gemma Ward has reportedly won a role in Baz Luhrmann’s film adaptation of the popular book and will be joining the cast on set sometime this week.

This will be Ward’s second major motion picture role after playing Tamara, Queen of the Mermaids in Pirates of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides earlier this year. It follows a stint on the stage in the Perth Theatre Company’s production of The Ugly One.

No word on the role Ward will play as her IMDB profile hasn’t be updated with no other reports available.

Gisele Bunchen for Esprit’s Iconic Styles F/W 2011-12 collection

For spring/summer 2011-12 Esprit went to college with Jessica Hart and Erin Wasson, for Fall/Winter 2012-12 Esprit have grown up a little, celebrating their Iconic Styles with the stunning Gisele Bundchen.

Bundchen is the new face of the campaign which aims to highlight the substance, variety and quality of the lines that form the core of the Esprit brand. The Brazilian supermodel was chosen by Esprit because she “embodies easy elegance, charisma and naturalness and is therefore perfectly suited to the Californian spirit of the brand”, according to the release.

Styled by Camille Bidault-Waddington who’s CV includes gigs at Marc by Marc Jacobs, Byblos, Pucci, Vogue Italia, Vogue Nippon and Vogue China, the campaign lets the mix of the three Esprit lines – Womans Casual, Womans Collection and Esprit de-corp – create a create various looks that lets the brands aesthetics shine through.

We love seeing Bunchen in flats again after it was revealed earlier this month that she refused to walk down the runway for Balenciaga in heels.

Miranda Kerr’s Kora Organic line officially certified organic (and Orlando Bloom uses it too)

Miranda Kerr back in Australia to announce seven new products to her Kora Organics cosmetic line, as well as now being officially certified organic by Ecocert. Glowing in a long blue dress Kerr posed with her mother Therese after insisting all the guests take a shot of Noni juice, reportedly a custom at her events.

“Becoming certified organic is something I am extremely proud of and further demonstrates how dedicated KORA Organics is to promoting the benefits of leading an organic and healthy life,” Kerr says.

The world of organic skin care is a precarious one, many brands call themselves organic (and they may be in fact be organic) but haven’t been officially certified organic by the likes of a third party certification board like Ecocert who ensure that everything detail about an organic brand – from the production to the packaging and distribution factory – meets all their requirements of a truly organic brand. It isn’t a one off process either, Ecocert certified organic brands have to be re-certified yearly to ensure the standards are kept up to optimal levels.

For the record, 19 of the 20 Kora Organics products have been Ecocert approved, while the Clay Purifying Mask was approved by another certification board as Ecocert does not certify products containing clay. In line with the certification requirements, Kora Organics also has a new matte finish packaging which is made using PP plastic, one of the most recyclable plastics in the world.

As for animal testing?

“The KORA Organics products are not tested on animals but tested on me! And they don’t discriminate – they are suitable for women and men, children and babies,” Kerr says, admitting that she put a face mask on her husband Orlando Bloom last night and usings the body lotion on her baby boy Flynn.

The new additions to the Kora Organics range include: Recovery Eye Gel Cream, Rejuvenating Foot Balm, Blemish Gel, Vitamin Enhanced Lip Balm, Clay Purifying Mask, Hydrating Mask and Luxurious Rosehip Body Oil.

And why were guests invited to have a shot of Noni Juice? According to her mother Therese, Miranda has been drinking it since she was 13 years old and it has become an integral part of the Kora Organics formula.

A 100% Australian Made and family owned, it was no surprise to see Therese Kerr greeting people as they arrived and mingling with the crowd like a true pro. She later revealed that Kora Organics is also branching out into a Spa range, which will be in spa’s around the world while the on-counter range has just signed a local deal to be sold through Terry White Chemists alongside their current stockists David Jones and of course the Kora Organics website.
