First look: Coco Rocha for Rimmel London

Last October we told you that Coco Rocha and Georgia May Jagger were Rimmel London’s latest spokeswomen. Now we have Coco’s first campaign, modeling their new shades of nail varnish. Photographed by Liz Collins, the colours are certainly vibrant but we’re not quite loving the 70s-style blue eye shadow that much (luckily it’s an ad for nail polish right?). What do you think?

Stay tuned for the first look of Georgia May’s Rimmel campaign – if the Daily Mail’s behind the scenes look was anything to go by, it may be hotter than Coco’s.

Meanwhile Coco announced on her blog overnight that she was engaged to her long time boyfriend, James Conran.

“I’m very happy to announce that I am engaged. Mr. Conran proposed last week and I most definitely accepted,” Rocha wrote. “I don’t think I’ve ever been so happy as I am right now. I can’t wait to start the rest of my life with him…”

Congratulations Coco & James!

Brooklyn Decker, model/actress; Jessica Stam, model/fashion designer

Two more models have added an extra slash to their titles recently. Sports Illustrated model and wife of tennis star Andy Roddick, is branching out into acting after guest staring in Ugly Betty recently. She announced to her twitter followers that she will be appearing in Just Go With It (originally called Pretend Wife) staring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston. Filming is due to start next month with Decker tweeting: “that’s why I’m in LA now and so excited to get started! The cast has been AMAZING and welcoming. I can’t stop gushing about everyone involved!”

Meanwhile Jessica Stam has revealed that she has been working with Rachel Roy on a capsule collection. Stam is announced on her twitter page that she just had her first design meeting with Roy and is “doing a capsule collection with her for Macy’s. So much fun sketching designs!” Coco Rocha and Jessica Hart had better watch out, they’re not the only new model/designers around…

Milan Fashion Week F/W 2010: Forget Prada, Elena Miro features the curvy women on the runway

The brand may not be called high fashion by many, but Elena Miro has always shown on the Milan Fashion Week schedule and always designed for larger women. How large is large? Well is an average Elena Miro model size of Italian 46 (British 16, American 12) big enough for you? With a brand goal to “help real women to feel confident and at peace with themselves,” said owner and chief strategist Elena Miroglio. “The reasons for anorexia go much deeper. The important thing for the designer is to be able to present a different kind of beauty, both in marketing and in the media.” Watch some of the show here. [France24]

Milan Fashion Week F/W 2010: Prada tries to redefine sexy

There was much talk about Prada’s Fall/Winter 2010 show with talk that the show would have a surprise line up, which is not surprising since the Italian fashion house seems to pride themselves on discovering the next big thing in modeling (think Gemma Ward when she was on exclusive hold back in 2003).

But it wasn’t the up-and-coming model choices that had everyone talking; it was the more voluptuous picks (if you can call them that). No, the Prada show didn’t feature plus sized models, instead they opted for three Victoria’s Secret Angels in the form of Doutzen Kroes, Alessandra Ambrosio and Miranda Kerr who were joined by Australian models Catherine McNeil, Abbey Lee Kershaw and up-and-coming name Julia Nobis; resident ‘bigger girl’ Lara Stone, Mariacarla Boscono, Monika “Jac” Jagaciak, Natasha Poly and Rasa Zukauskaite. Not a bad line up of established modeling names.

Naomi Campbell joins the NOH8 silent protest

Naomi Campbell isn’t known for keeping quiet, but she has tapped her mouth shut in support of the NOH8 Campaign. Started last year by photographers Adam Bouska and Jeff Parshley to protest against California Proposition 8 which wants to restrict marriage to opposite sex couple, the photos feature famous faces with their mouths taped shit and NOH8 painted on their cheek. Campbell was photographed earlier this month by Bouska and joins over 2000 official photos and 1,400 submitted photos on the NOH8 website – and if you check out their Twitter page, they’re campaigning for a lot more!

Naomi Campbell to play sales girl at Westfield London for Fashion for Relief

Supermodel Naomi Campbell has been campaigning hard for her Fashion for Relief charity project, now that the runway shows are done, she’s set to visit Westfield London tomorrow Friday 26th February to lend a hand in selling the official Fashion for Relief T-shirt designed by Vivienne Westwood. First look: Jessica Hart for Portmans, the Modern Classics ad campaign

Jessica Hart is one busy girl. She’s the face of swimwear label Seafolly and is set to launch her first clothing line Neon Hart in collaboration with Australian store General Pants, but she still found time to model for Australian fashion chain store Portmans (think H&M) Modern Classics range.

“Jess is naturally beautiful, yet glamorous and very much the ‘girl of the moment’. She has achieved celebrity status, but still manages to maintain her open and friendly personality. This makes her the perfect fit for the Portmans brand,” Portmans said in a release.

Portmans’ Modern Classics collection aims to reflect a combination of current fashion trends and Portmans brand values, and we must say we’re pleasantly surprised at the fashion forward vibe. Though an edgy faux-leather jacket and a shirt with over sized Balmain inspired shoulders may have been seen in stores everywhere in overseas, they haven’t been readily available on the high street in Australia. Could it be that Portmans have shed their oh-hum looks and taken things up a notch?

Kate Moss for Longchamp, the ad campaign for her handbags

We’ve seen Longchamp’s still images of Kate Moss’ handbag collection for the French accessories house and now we have the advertising campaign images. While Kate has modeled for Longchamp many times before, this time it’s personal. The Kate Moss for Longchamp handbag campaign consists of black and white images photographed by David Sims, where Moss is seen in just a fur coat and blazer in two of the three shots and topless in the third with her leather bags keeping her modesty.

The advertising campaign isn’t anything special, in fact sometimes Kate or her surroundings prove to be much more interesting than the three bags she’s chosen to feature.

Vivienne Westwood’s mad man, model and Pamela Anderson for Spring/Summer 2010

Imagine being in the room when Vivienne Westwood and Jurgen Teller were discussing ideas for her spring/summer 2010 advertising campaign. The kooky queen of punk fashion has taken her fashion campaigns up a notch this season with the addition of up-and-coming Argentinean model Tati Cotliar joining last season’s group which consists of Westwood, Pamela Anderson (couldn’t you tell from the boobs alone?) and Andreas Kronthaler.

Crazy bunch. I would have love to have been a fly on the wall for the Westwood Man, Gold Label and Accessories ads (below).

How Miranda Kerr and a stockbroker made it on to the same news segment

I’m sure if you were a guy, you’d send your mates photos of some good looking women (in this case Miranda Kerr) for them to peruse at work, but how many people can say they’ve been filmed by a national news outlet reading said emails? Not many I’m sure. Well in Australia, David Kiely, a stockbroker with Macquarie Private Wealth can now boast that has is claim to fame. He was looking at nude photos of Kerr he received via email when the Channel 7 news crossed over to a colleague for his opinion on interest rates – unfortunately for Kiely his computer screen is in full view of the television cameras and he was looking at nude photos of Miranda Kerr. Some sharp eyes spotted the activity on Kiely’s screen and the whole thing went viral.

Elle Macpherson to host Britian’s Next Top Model

So her acting gig with Ashton Kutcher’s The Beautiful Life didn’t quite work out but Australian supermodel and entrepreneur has a new job lined up as the new host of Britian’s Next Top Model. “I am really enthusiastic and motivated to work with the team of Britain’s Next Top Model,” she said. “We are looking forward to finding the face that can represent the next generation.” She has the modelling credentials to take over from Lisa Snowdon, who pulled out to focus on other things, only time will tell if Elle has the on-screen appeal for hosting a television show. Coco Rocha introduces her fashion line: ROCOCO

We told you last month that Canadian supermodel Coco Rocha was going to debut a look from her fashion line at the Grammy Awards help last night, well here it is in all its navy and gold glory. It looks like a modern day interpretation of a fairytale gown, complete with bold shoulders and hidden mini skirt.

“Me and my @jamesconran and our first ROCOCO creation!” she said of a TwitPic she posted on Twitter, which has us wondering if Rococo is a partnership between the normally red haired model and her British-born boyfriend who is a New York-based designer, muralist, and decorative painter.

I’m not loving the shiny satin, but the look definitely not the same street-wear looks we’re use to seeing from other model-cum-designer offerings. Or am I being too glass-half-full?

Lizzy Jagger lands an editorial in Russian Harper’s Bazaar

With all the fuss made over Georgia May Jagger of late, has fashion forgotten all about her older sister Lizzy? As it turns out, she is still modeling (though her modeling gigs are not quite of the same caliber as her little sister’s Versace campaign and Rimmel London contract).

Elizabeth ‘Lizzy’ Jagger can be seen modeling in a 15-page spread for new season trends in the February 2010 edition of Harper’s Bazaar Russia. Shot by Alan Gelati, it’s certainly a step up from her last major job (that we could find) – Jagger went ‘hardcore’ for a Dominic Jones jewellery lookbook. Check out the rest of her Bazaar editorial here.
