Revealed: The Heidi Klum Barbie complete with her own sequined mini dress

heidiklum-barbie

Say hello to the Heidi Klum you can take home to meet the family, the Heidi Klum Barbie. She may not be 5″9 like the Victoria’s Secret Angel, but this like the model and Project Runway host, this Barbie had her outfit custom made - by Robert Best, former Project Runway 4 contestant and long time fashion designer for Mattel nonetheless.

“[Heidi] is a pleasure to work with, it was so much fun to do,” Best told Australian newspaper, MX.

While Best didn’t go on to win Project Runway, he did design a dress that epitomises her ‘I’m a dress shortener’ mantra. We suspect Heidi-the-Barbie’s dress was inspired by the sequined mini dress Klum wore on stage at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2007, when she sung a duet with her husband Seal.

The special edition Heidi Klum Barbie doll will be available in September 2009 as part of Barbie’s 50th Anniversary Blonde Ambition Collection which immortalizes a series celebrating iconic blondes in fashion and entertainment in plastic.

Watch out for them at BarbieCollector.com.

Raquel Zimmermann channels Marlene Dietrich for Giorgio Armani’s Fall Winter 2009/10 campaign

armani-fw-0910-1

It’s Fall/Winter campaign time again, with Giorgio Armani’s F/W 2009/10 campaign photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott revealed in Italian Vogue’s June 2009 issue.

Featuring Raquel Zimmermann and Sean Opry, the campaign channels the smokey and sensual 1920s with Raquel exuding the same exotic glamour that shot Marlene Dietrich to fame. Throw in the exquisite detailing and bold black and white photography, this could be a Giorgio Armani campaign actually intrigues me.

Get these girls some clothes - why all the naked models on magazine covers?

models-covers-nu

We understand that it’s a little model-vs-celebrity when it comes to magazine covers these days (magazines need to sell so those magazine girls can keep their day jobs), but do models really have to try and trump the celebrities by stripping off on magazine covers?

British Vogue kicked off this current run of magazine covers featuring naked models with its June 2009 issue with Natalia Vodianova on the cover.

“Vogue generally deals with how we choose to clothe our bodies, but for this special issue we have diversified and looked at how we feel about those bodies, whether clothed or naked,” says Alexandra Shulman in her editor’s letter.

So to continue the body-pondering phase, we get to think about it when we spotted Helena Christensen on the cover of Citizen K’s Supermodel issue sporting hair that was bigger than her waistline, then again when Miranda Kerr took it all off for the cover of Australian Rolling Stone to raise awareness to the environment (ironically on the cover of a print publication).

Miranda Kerr strips off for Rolling Stone and Marc Jacobs

mkerr-aus-rollingstoneWhen you’re a Victoria’s Secret Angel it’s pretty much guaranteed that you have a rocking body, so why not show it off to the world when you’re not modeling Victoria’s Secret lingerie?

Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr has shown off hers on the latest cover of Australian Rolling Stone magazine to raise awareness for the environment, specifically koalas the Courier Mail reports.

“I feel strongly about our natural environment because it supports our life - it’s that simple,” Kerr says in an accompanying interview.

But how is the cover suppose to promote nature and environment when due to the overly airbrushed cover she’s obviously not really chained to a tree outdoors, is she?

Australian Rolling Stone is set to hit newsstands on Wednesday, but it will not be the only place you will be able to see Miranda Kerr naked. She is reportedly set to take part in Marc Jacobs’ latest ‘Protect the Skin You’re In’ t-shirt campaign which will help raise awareness to skin cancer.

“I’m fully covered - at least, they’ve covered my bits with the words,” she said of the Marc Jacobs’ campaign. “The great thing about having people recognise you is you can try to make a positive difference - that’s what I’m trying to do, especially for young women.”

The 2009 t-shirt campaign will also feature celebrities: Nicollette Sheridan, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jason Donovan and Leona Lewis stripping off. They join the likes of Victoria Beckham, Heidi Klum, Dita von Teese, Selma Blair, Naomi Campbell, Winona Ryder, Julianne Moore and Christy Turlington who have previously appeared naked for Marc Jacobs’ t-shirts.

Mischa Barton’s model series gets picked up by the CW - watch the first preview video here!

beautifullife-tv

The CW must love fashionably beautiful television shows because they’ve picked up The Beautiful Life, a new television series based around the trials and tribulations of models in New York City, starring Mischa Barton as Sonja Stone.

The show marks Barton’s CW return after leaving The O.C. in 2006. She plays Sonja, a modeling ‘veteran’ who struggles to keep up with the fresh new faces in the New York modeling scene while Elle Macpherson adds some fashion cred to the show, stretching her acting muscle in a recurring role as Claudia, a former 1980s supermodel who’s the head of a modeling agency.

This is definitely a show to keep an eye on when it debuts in Fall 2009, did we mention it’s produced by Ashton Kutcher?

Aside from hot clothes and hot girls, we love that Zac Posen will make an appearance in the show - if one of the promotional shots are to be believed.

Check out a preview clip of the show below. They’re filming ‘live’ at a Zac Posen show where the show must go on and it’s about who fits into the outfit and who can work it on the runway.

Gemma Ward no-show DJ but could be in a zombie movie?

gemmaward-swingShe was set to make a rare public appearance at Embrace the Blue charity event on Thursday night, but Gemma Ward did not show up to take her spot behind the decks.

No one quite knows why, but there in other Gemma news (we love Gemma news)… newspaper reports in Australia say that she is the directors choice in a ‘zombie rockumentary’ penned by Jimmy Jack, who penned Gemma’s big screen debut, The Black Balloon.

She joins the likes of Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin on the writer’s wish list in, Zombie: Sex, Brains and Rock n’ Roll a mockumentary about a rock band made up of zombies who struggle to control the urge to eat their groupies.

Jack wants Gemma to star as the Tambourine Girl, the love interest for the zombie front-man.

“The love story is kind of interesting, he’ll be all kind of romantic, saying things like she’s making him feel alive again,” he says.

With the Sydney Morning Herald reporting that Jack was due to fly to New York to talk to Culkin, could Gemma have missed her DJ gig to meet with him too?

One can only speculate…

Listen to a snippet of the script here.

Madonna vs Natalia Vodianova: who wore the Louis Vuitton headpiece best?

natalia-madonna-lv

One is a superstar and the other is a supermodel, both are sporting the most talked about fashion accessory of the moment - the Louis Vuitton fall 2009 bunny-ear-esque head piece.

She may have posed nude for the June 2009 issue of British Vogue, but Natalia Vodianova kept some clothes on and dons a pink version of the Louis Vuitton headpiece on the cover of Vogue Russia’s June 2009 cover while Madonna wore her much-talked-about blue head piece on the Costume Institute Gala at the MET last week.

Both women are stunning in their own right but when it boils down to it… who pulled off the Louis Vuitton bunny-ear headpiece best?

P.S. Also, will you be adding your name to any waiting lists for this headpiece?

Gemma Ward to hit the decks at Embrace the Blue

There was a Gemma Ward sighting late last month at Penn Station - evidence the doll faced supermodel is actually in town and potentially ready and able to work. And work she will next week, behind the DJ booth at Doe Fund’s Embrace the Blue, Celebrity DJ Series night next week.

It’s not the first time Gemma’s spun the vinyl in front of a big crowd. She was the MisShapes guest DJ at a V magazine party in November 2005 where she reportedly looked very much at home behind the turntable dressed in a bleach-stained hoodie, tight jeans and boots spinning Killer’s and Scissor Sister’s tracks.

She reportedly had no nerves that night but the noise was loud and the crowd adoring.

Will it be the same when she joins the likes of Christian Siriano, Byrdie Bell, Richie Rich, Olivia Palermo, and Q-Tip at The Doe Fund? Buy your tickets now to find out.

If you’re going, we’d love to see your photos!
