Who doesn’t love London? Or the whole United Kingdom for that fact? It is the place that brought us the likes of Topshop, Warehouse, Wallis, River Island, Primark and The Beatles and the Spice Girls. I love shopping on the high streets and seeing the red double decker buses go by as I shop, then walking down to the likes of Selfridges and the fancier stores on Regent street.

But unless we want to jump on two gruelling long haul flights, the UK is a long way away, so that is where online shopping and our Cash Passport Prepaid MasterCard comes in handy with some preloaded British Pounds on it. Here’s some of our favourite stores to snap up a bargain.

Designer & Department Stores bargains:

Net-A-Porter
www.net-a-porter.com
If you haven’t heard of Net-A-Porter before reading this article, I am not sure we can be friends. It is THE online store for all things designer from all corners of the globe. Based in London (in really pretty offices above the Westfield in Shepherd’s Bush) it is the place to snap up the latest items from designers like Chloe, Nina Ricci, Celine and Victoria Beckham. And their biannual sales are legendarily amazing – so much so that the site almost comes to a halt with everyone trying to jump on at once to score a bargain.

The Outnet
www.theoutnet.com
The sister site to Net-A-Porter, The Outnet is the basically the outlet site for Net-A-Porter, where past season collections end up at heavily reduced prices. But don’t be fooled into only checking in every week or two, the site often does designer collaborations, recently doing one with Oscar de la Renta.

Matches
www.matchesfashion.com
Much like Net-A-Porter, Matches is an online powerhouse. With luxury and contemporary brands, the store is heaven for fashionable girls. The best part is when the site goes on sale it has some of the best markdowns around. So keep an eye out for sale season!

Browns
www.brownsfashion.com
Founded by Joan Burstein and husband Sidney in 1970, the legendary store London’s South Molton Street has been credited for being one of the early stockists of Alexander McQueen, John Galliano and Christopher Kane. Another online source for some of the best designer finds online.

Vestiaire Collective
www.vestiairecollective.com
From Chanel to Isabel Marant, this is the place to buy and sell pre-worn designer pieces. From vintage designs to runway items that are only a season or two old, this is the place to shop. With an expert team of authenticators, you can be sure you are buying the real thing.

Tips for online shopping in the UK:

  • One of my favourite things about shopping UK websites is the fact that they size clothing the same as Australia. Which makes shopping so much easier. But as per usual, be wary as like sizing in Australia, it can differ from store to store and brand to brand.
