Like most women we never have anything to wear. Which basically translates to ‘I hate all my clothes and need new ones’. With party season in full swing, we hardly need an excuse to go shopping for Christmas party dresses online in Australia and cocktail dresses. With so many parties to attend, from work parties to drinks with friends, and family gatherings, the list never ends.

We’ve pull together our five favourite dresses from David Jones with tips on how to get the best cost per wear out of each of them.

DJs-Bigeni-BlackDressTHE LBD:

Gary Bigeni Drape Front Dress

Wear it to Christmas cocktails with the girls or to a work Christmas party. Just change up your make up (a bold lip) or accessories (drop earrings and an amazing cocktail ring) with different shoes.

Re-wear it: After party season, it’s a perfect LBD for a date, dinner with the boyfriends family or a last minute work function.

DJs-ShonaJoy-LoveStateBabyDollDressThe print cocktail dress:

Shona Joy Love State Baby Doll Dress

A fun cocktail dress for those parties where you want to show off a little leg but not be too showy. It’s a great little summer party dress and the flattering babydoll cut means you can wear it while stuffing your face with Christmas food and not have a food baby for all to see.

Re-Wear it: Again and again after party season for a night out dancing with the girls or with sandals as a cute day dress.

DJs-Zimmermann-StardustLowBackDressThe Boxing Day BBQ dress:

Zimmermann Swim Stardust Low Back Dress

Who doesn’t love Boxing Day? It’s that chilled out day after the Christmas madness where you chill out with the family for a BBQ or hit the sales. Whatever you choose to do, this is the perfect chic little dress which will take you from the shops to the beach and then to BBQ with the family.

Re-wear It: Again and again for cocktails with the girls or as a beach cover up – it is that versatile.

DJs-RACHELGILBERT-PrinnieDressThe bling-ring dress:

RACHEL GILBERT Prinnie Dress

Now this is a dress for the girl who wants to stand out – it’s pink and it’s sparkly so you better be ready to channel your inner Elle Woods. You definitely will not be the wallflower of the party if you wear this dress, so shake your groove thang on the dance floor and be the life of the party.

Re-wear it: Get more wear out of this dress by dressing it down with a leather jacket and booties, or with a white cropped tshirt and heels.

DJs-AlexPerry-LouiseStraplessGownThe gown:

Alex Perry Louise Strapless Gown

If you’re office is having a super fancy Christmas party, you can’t go wrong with this floor length black gown by Alex Perry. The stunning sweetheart neckline and figure hugging bodice will show off all your beautiful curves. Of course it’s not a dress you will re-wear that frequently, but it’s a stunner that you will pull out whenever you want to make jaws drop when you walk into the room. This is definitely an investment piece!

Re-wear it: When you have another red carpet or gala event to attend – with different hair, make up and accessories of course.

DJs-SweetTreats-HamperSomething for the host:

And if you don’t want to arrive to the party empty handed, have you thought about bringing along a Christmas Hamper? David Jones have a huge selection, including this Sweet Treats Christmas Hamper. Full of chocolate, cookies, wafers and strawberry jam, this would please any sweet-toothed party host.

Ok, ‘I hate all my clothes and need new ones’ sounds like a complaint but I really use it as an excuse to buy a new one… You’ve given me some great ideas on how to reuse my (quite) full wardrobe. Thanks!
