W Retreat Koh Samui: luxury, beauty and the place to be

Have you ever had one of those moment where you think you had just arrived in paradise? I’ve thought that many times when visiting gorgeous resorts around the world, not least when visiting Qualia on Hamilton Island last year. But all thoughts about previous paradises were thrown out the window when I arrived at the W Retreat in Koh Samui when my first thought was WOW.

Fresh off the plane from Bangkok (and a stay at the W Bangkok – more on that later), we arrived at the beautiful W Retreat Koh Samui, situated at the peak of the north shore of the beautiful Thai island, we were greeted with a sparkling silver W sign and a breezy and open reception area that lead out to the most beautiful view of the Gulf of Thailand.

Opened in 2010, the W Retreat Koh Samui filled us with a sense of awe and a feeling that we had arrived in paradise. A modern paradise that combined tranquillity with the idyllic nature of a contemporary 5 star resort. By day it is a calm and beautiful place to relax and enjoy the private beauty, your private pool, the WET Deck pool or one of the many restaurants and bars, but night the people and the Retreat comes to life with tourists and locals coming to have a drink and mingle.

The rooms

The Retreat features 73 private villas equipped with modern lifestyle innovations, including a private pool, daybeds, an outdoor shower, Yamaha sound system, 46-inch plasma screen TV, wine refrigerator, and the signature W bed.

We stayed in a beautiful ocean view villa complete with its own infinity pool, king sized bed, massive bathroom with bathtub in case you didn’t want to soak in the pool, as well as shower where you can open up the roof so you can see the sun or the moon while you’re rinsing off. Modern and luxurious, a girl could get use to the space and amenities in the room alone.
