Alex Perry returned to the runways of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia to showcase his Spring/Summer 2014 collection. Entitled 75001, we knew were in for a surprise as the pre show rumbling was that Alex was taking a new direction.

With his celebrity friends (and fans) like Megan Gale, Phoebe Tonkin, Sarah Murdoch and the whole Napoleon Perdis family perched front row, Alex Perry showed a collection that injected a youthful sports luxe into his normally-red-carpet-friendly collections. With the music dropping in and out, the show lacked the usual rocking vibe we have come to expect from Alex, but he made up for it with a collection that showcased his skills in manipulating fabric over a girls curves. Using silk jersey, lace and other non-Perry-standard materials, he created form fitting mini dresses, separates and gowns that featured stripes, colour blocking, sheer panels and sheer racer back detail.

The result was sporty, modern and young that speaks to a younger girl who wants to wear Alex Perry every day, but obviously wearing a new princess gowns isn’t something you wear every day. The direction change was a clever mix up from a man who’s business empire already includes business wear, eye wear and of course bridal and special occasion wear.

The look was finished off by slick buns by ghd, contoured beauty by Napoleon Perdis and thigh high lace up boots by Tony Bianco.
