When it comes to fashion shows, some are special before they’ve even begun. Sometimes it’s a live performance from a band, while for others it is the beautiful decor of the runway that sets them apart. Yesterday at the Aje Summer 2013/14 show at MBFWA, we were immediately captured by the beautiful tree branches, complete with delicate cherry blossoms, that were suspended from the ceiling. There was something whimsical about it, and the show hadn’t even started.

When the lights did go down and a soft fog from a smoke machine announced that that the show had kicked off, we were in heaven. Aje is a brand that constantly delivers high quality clothing that is undoubtably luxe, and their Summer 2013/14 collection was no exception.

It was all about elegant textures and detailing here, with Aje steering clear of a purely light and floaty collection, with fitted separates and sharply tailored blazers featuring heavily throughout. This was the type of clothing that you wished you could reach out and delicately touch; so enchanting and perfect was the detailing.

Designers Adrian Norris and Edwina Robinson paired soft cottons and linens with delicate beads and large metallic sequins that lent the looks an erethral, underwater feel. For the ultra-femme, floor-skimming gowns, Norris and Robinson used pastel green and candy pink hues to create an effortlessly chic look. Thigh-high splits and full button-up shirt detailing provided a sharp juxtaposition of ladylike and subtle sensuality, all within the same look.

Pretty, stylish and timeless, this was a cleanly polished collection that was yet another triumph for Aje.
