Australian fashion label Ginger & Smart turns 10 this year and Alexandra and Genevieve Smart have marked the occasion with the launch of AKIN, their new 40-piece diffusion line where nothing is priced above $300. This new is sure to excite Ginger & Smart’s younger fans who can’t afford as many pieces from the brands mainline.
“We launched Akin with the concept of designing a collection of youthful, playful pieces that are accessible to a younger girl,” says Genevieve Smart. “It’s about dresses to dance and have fun in. We loved creating it and are really excited to be designing for this market.”
Taking inspiration from their covetable mainline, AKIN brings a more youthful appeal, embracing prints and colour with ease. The autumn/winter 2013 collection gives us futuristic floral and city graphics with structure and tailoring playing a huge part in the design. Quality fabrics were not overlooked in the design with breezy silks, buttery soft leather and knits available throughout.
