Global luxury business and fashion summit to hit Australia thanks to AFR Magazine

I am always looking on with envy when the likes of the International Hearld Tribune and WWD hold global business and fashion summits in the Northern Hemisphere. Travelling to these summits would cost more than a few thousand dollars. These are probably just a few reasons as to why the Australian Financial Review Magazine has announced that they will be hosting a luxury business and fashion summit called Bespoke on Thursday 16 May 2013 at the Sydney Opera House.

Heralded at the first of its kind in the Asia-Pacific region, the event will be curated and hosted by AFR Magazine’s International Fashion Editor, Marion Hume. A line up of topics and speakers have yet to be announced, but according to the release it will feature an unprecedented line-up of global speakers including several icons from the luxury business and fashion world.

Financial Review Group Chief Executive Officer, Brett Clegg, said: “The Financial Review Group is proud to be able to host The Australian Financial Review Magazine summit, the first of its kind for Australia and the region. AFR Magazine pioneered reporting on luxury brands and was an early trend observer, a theme that continues today under the leadership of esteemed editor Jeni Porter.

“The summit will engage the best Australian and international business leaders and provide attendees with insight into the business of luxury including business intelligence from a global perspective, but more importantly, from a regional Asia-Pacific perspective.”

Targeting a range of people from the fashion, design and retail industries, the topics and issues will be developed to appeal to the broad audience and focus around creative collaboration.

We are expecting quite a stellar line up as Hume’s little black book would be bursting at the seams with some of the fashion industries finest listed inside from her thirty years of experience in the fashion industry.

Marion Hume said: “Set in one of the most spectacular buildings on earth, this event is a new kind of business and fashion summit focused on the concept of creative collaboration – reaching across disciplines to see what is possible in this still-new unfettered universe of the digital age.

“Building on the two coveted fashion issues per year, the summit will be a natural evolution for AFR Magazine in creating an interactive platform for readers and business,” she said.

We can’t wait to get more details about the summit and speaker line up in early 2013. To register for more information, visit: www.afr.com/summit16may
