New York Fashion Week S/S 2013: Vera Wang does modern princess for spring

When it comes to Vera Wang, most of us would agree that the designs are fit for a princess. So it seems only right that her spring collection be adorned with deep royal hues, including purple, emerald, black, metallic gold and crisp, clean white. As usual, this was a collection that spared no attention to detail, with intricate beaded embellishments making many designs appear as though they did indeed have royal jewels embedded onto them.

Beginning with full-bodied knee-length skirts and sharply tailored jackets, the collection moved from day to night, with the dresses becoming more elegant as the show went on. This was not a light and floaty collection, rather the materials were heavy, luxe and oh so perfect.

There was a perfect balance between figure hugging and fluid, voluminous dresses with lace overlays, off-the-shoulder detailing and bell-sleeves. In short, it was a collection any modern day princess (or fashionistas) would love to get their hands on.

Beauty wise, the focus was on the eyes, with golden eye shadow casting a delicious glow over the models’ otherwise naturally made up faces. This suited us just fine, as we didn’t want any over-the-top beauty looks to detract out attention from the pure perfection that the models donned.
