London Fashion Week S/S 2013: Grown-up glam at Sass & Bide

There’s certainly no shortage of Australian designers showing at London Fashion Week this year, and one of our favourites is of course Sass & Bide. We couldn’t wait to see what new looks Heidi Middleton and Sarah-Jane Clarke would unveil, and we were not disappointed.

After a recent trip to Peru and Beunos Aires, Clarke and Middleton channeled their inspirations in to what they do best, and we loved them for it. The collection was mostly monochromatic, and included speckles of neon orange, as well as layered luxe fabrics and metallic embellishments. It personified laid-back glamour and reminded us of the fun the Sass & Bide girls have with their designs.

The girls are of course known for their statement skirts and dresses, and this season it was a feathered white mini skirt that caught our eye.  Paired with a long-sleeved cream jumper and a burnished silver belt, this ensemble was the perfect combination of grown-up glam and laid-back chic. Another of our favourites was a breathtaking metallic embellished maxi shirt, which when paired with a sharp black blazer, is the perfect look for glamorous evening cocktails. Just add towering black heels and a red nail polish or lipstick, and the look would be complete.

One of this season’s hottest trends, neon, made an appearance in the form of masculine pastel orange trousers and a sequinned embellished jacket. Paired with a crisp white shirt with floral detailing at the neck, we just loved this look.

Overall, this was a more grown up venture by Clarke and Middleton than previous collections, but it still showed their signature flair for creating a show-stopping look.
