Paris Haute Couture A/W 2013: Armani Prive shows that couture can be both relaxed and breathtaking

There’s something about the elegance of an Armani creation that can make you feel as though you are looking at something out of a fairytale. The fluidity of the silk gowns, the way the encrusted embellishments catch the light, the sharp tailoring of the jackets. Yes, it is hard for Armani to disappoint, especially when it comes to couture with Armani Prive.

The palette was similar to that of a stunning summer sunset, with hues ranging from dark purples to pastels, sky blue to royal navy and creams to blacks. So dominant was the sunset motif that one gown actually managed to personify a dusk sky, with the floor grazing creation actually appearing to have soft clouds floating across a pink, sun stained sky. Paired with intricately beaded veils, Armani’s latest presentation was nothing short of dazzling.

And the trousers! Oh the trousers… somehow, there is nothing quite like a chic pair of wide cut, pleated trousers like those spotted at Armani. Overall, it was an elegant and stylish collection; relaxed couture at it’s best and it had us weak at the knees.
