MBFWA: Oroton’s womenswear debut is clean and classic

Oroton are an Australian institution, a bit like Ralph Lauren is to the USA and Gucci is to Italy. So when it was revealed that Oroton were launching a fully-fledged clothing line at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia we were intrigued. They already had a line of classic wardrobe pieces like anoraks and knits, but what would they have in store for us in a ready to wear clothing line?

As it turns out, they followed their brand aesthetic to the T, no pun intended of course (Taylor Tomasi Hill styled the collection). Inspired by a South American colour palette, we saw the rich colours of the Indian desert seep through into a collection that was sleek and carefully crafted.

Shirts, trousers and shirt dresses were aplenty, each with their own unique twists – shirts featured Oroton’s trademark glowmesh finish, trousers featured side slits along the calf while shirt dresses were given a batwing treatment on the sleeves. It was interesting and unexpected – its officewear for the girl who needs to duck out to a date after work at a chic water-side bar or restaurant.

It was a cohesive collection that gave us a lot of pieces that the Oroton lovers will snap up – and we even have a few pieces on our to-buy list for Spring/Summer 2012-13.

An added bonus for their avid fan base is that Oroton are also offering some of the limited edition MBFWA styles from the runway on their website. Styles include 4 handbags and 5 footwear styles.
