MBFWA: Dylan Cooper debuts with a flourish of colour and patterns

What a triumphant debut at Fashion Week.

We may only be one day in to the week, but we’re already seeing some strong trends emerging, and Dylan Cooper‘s debut show was no exception. Fresh from winning Project Runway Australia in 2011, Dylan Cooper today revealed his Spring/Summer 2012 collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia, and we were not disappointed. Jumpsuits, pastels, peplum and pleats were out in strong force, and we’re definitely excited to be wearing these styles come summer.

Located in the Box, the live installation was a mass of wild colour pops and patterns that threatened to overwhelm. Centred in the middle of the room on platforms, the models displayed the designs in an intimate setting, with viewers able to walk around the Box at their leisure, taking in some outstanding debut designs. The fashion world’s affair with blue continued here (we can thank Lagerfeld for starting this trend!) with a Grecian-inspired floor-length dress among the most impressive of the collection. Peplum, one of our favourite cuts for being oh-so-flattering on everybody, featured heavily throughout the collection, with pieces including a deep floral dress with a pleated bottom, and a one-shoulder top in one of the hues we’re already seeing a lot of- hot pink. Clashing prints looks set to be huge again in the warmer months, with geometric pants teamed with bright blazers and neon shirts. It looks like summer style is going to be bright and bubbly.

We loved the collection, and if Dylan Cooper‘s debut is anything to go by, he is certainly one to watch.
