MBFWA: Talulah’s Kelli Wharton talks to us about her Summer collection and Gary Pepper Vintage

Known for her use of prints in vintage inspired pieces, Kelli Warton has carved out a niche for her fashion label Talulah. Set to show on Tuesday of Mercedes-Benz Australian Fashion Week, the show has already received a lot of buzz thanks to the announcement that style blogger Nicole Warne of Gary Pepper Vintage will be walking the runway. We managed to grab Kelli to answer a few questions in the lead up to her show.

What was the inspiration behind the Spring/Summer 2011-12 collection?

I was inspired by kaleidoscopes of colour and how floral prints combined made this tunnel of prints come alive. I am loving all pops of neon pastels, tropical florals, 60’s vibes, sports luxe styling also.

What are your hair and beauty inspirations this season?

Loving beautiful Bridgette Bardot in the 60’s blow wave. Loving fringes also. Natural make-up, dewy skin is divine!

Could we get a cryptic teaser on what to expect from your show?

Colour and Prints will stand out as a focus! We have designed some beautiful heels also which bring together our look just perfectly!

Why did you asked Nicole Warne of Gary Pepper Vintage walk the Talulah runway at MBFWA?

Bloggers are such a huge part of the fashion industry, and we love Nicole and think she really suits Talulah. It is a very special collaboration between us.

What is your favourite thing about fashion week?

Sharing all my ideas, things I love and just putting on a fabulous show!

What is your best fashion week memory?

I love being backstage and having a ball watching all my models go down the catwalk. I love to dance and enjoy it!

We can’t wait to see the show!
