Burlesque queen Dita Von Teese unveiled her latest lingerie collection for Target on day three of the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival, and the vintage inspired ensembles did not disappoint. The parade opened with the beauty herself taking to the runway, dressed in a black lace ensemble from her latest Von Follies for Target range, complemented with the beauty’s signature towering Christian Louboutin heels. The crowd was treated to a playful and entertaining opening strip-tease from Von Teese, before the uber sexy main collection was shown. Channelling 1940s and 1950s glamour, black lace dominated the collection, and was offset wth lace and feminine accents of dusty blues and pinks.

Consisting of exquisite bustiers, corsets, G-strings and garters, perhaps the most impressive thing about the show, was the way the collection itself was presented. Burlesque accessories such as whips, eye masks and gloves, many of which were taken from Von Teese’s personal collection, created an electric atmosphere that transported the audience to a time ruled by the glitz and glam of burlesque.

Von Teese has previously been praised for her celebration of the diversity of the female form, something she demonstrated through a refreshing mix of models of all shapes, size and ethnic backgrounds- rumour has it the beauty gave strict instructions for her show to avoid using super-skinny models.

With the show earning a standing ovation from the captivated audience, it’s fair to say that the latest Von Follies for Target collection has cemented Von Teese’s status as not only an inspiration for women to embrace their bodies, but also as a designer of a truly glamourous lingerie collection.
