Fashion around the world this weekend: London, Copenhagen, Perth and Tokyo

With a plethora of events on around the world at any one time, it can be hard to decide how to spend your precious weekend leisure hours. Maybe an art show in Perth, a fashion show in Copenhagen, or a wedding expo in London to perhaps be inspired a la Sarah Burton? Or is browsing markets more your weekend cup of tea? Whatever your weekend preferences, you can be sure that there is an event on to suit your tastes.

The Perth International Arts Festival kicks off this weekend, and with our sisters out West playing host to theatre, dance, visual arts, music, literature and film events, you can be certain the stylish set will be out in full force. With this being the 60th anniversary of the festival, the huge array of events to choose from will not disappoint. Be sure to check out the Ballet at the Quarry, which showcases four different works from around the world, including the New York inspired ‘The Sixth Borough’ and ‘Serenade’, which is a staple for the New York Ballet. Be sure to bring a picnic and enjoy the evening’s performances. If ballet isn’t your thing, head to see Bon Iver perform, or take in a performance of Mozart’s classic ‘A Magic Flute’.

Brides-to-be will flock to London this weekend in search of inspiration for their dream wedding, with the London Wedding Show taking place this weekend. With over 150 stands, the exhibition includes fashion shows featuring the latest bridal gown designs, as well as ideas for occasion wear. Take time out from exploring the expo with a visit to the Champagne Bar, and then continue on to work your way through both designer and high street pieces. Who knows, you may even spot something to rival Sarah Burton’s stunning Alexander McQueen creation for that wedding last year.

Scandenavian fashion takes centre stage this week, with Copenhagen Fashion Week running until February 5. Visit shows of designers such as Camilla Staerk, Elise Gug and high street favourite H&M for inspiration for the upcoming season. While in the picturesque Danish capital, be sure to check out the Copenhagen Unfair exhibition, which showcases the cutting edge designs of new designers and artists from Denmark for a unique look at fashion as it develops.

Take it easy in Tokyo this weekend and visit the Togo Shrine Markets, which are held in the trendy Harajuku district. Browse the traditional dolls and art, and if you’re lucky you may even find a luxurious silk kimono to call your own. Enjoy the view of the quaint Togo Shrine and relax as you peruse the treasures on offer this weekend.
