Paris Fashion Week: Yves Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2012 is all in the shoes

Stefano Pilatis’s designs for Yves Saint Laurent‘s Spring/Summer collection played homage to Bunuel’s 1960’s film Belle de Jour. Silk and duchess satin were in abundance used on halter neck tops tucked into slim leg pants and organza blouses had bouffant sleeves which were matched with sharp pencil skirts. The palette was mostly jewel toned, with amethyst, sapphire and deep emerald mixed with white for freshness. Prints were also present in the collection in the form of a silk paisley maxi skirt or a flowing long sleeved floor length dress matched with a thick leather belt.

Pilati’s selection of evening dresses for YSL didn’t disappoint either. There was a stunning sapphire satin halter-neck dress with ruffle detail at the back or a strapless rose mini dress with black side panels and side splits. However what stood out most in the collection were the shoes. From the loafers with gold metal plates over the toes to the heels with encrusted with rhinestones or the block style platforms.

With Emily Blunt, Salma Heyak and Kylie Minogue in attendance at the show these are sure to make an appearance on the red carpet this year.
