Pierre Cardin launches a designer tablet to lure the iPad crowd

Forget luxury iPad cases, French fashion house Pierre Cardin have created a tablet computer that combines the world of fashion and technology in one stylish package.

The Pierre Cardin tablet claims to combine an elegant design with user-friendly technology, running on the popular Android operating system with the usual tablet features we’ve come to know and expect like 3G and WiFi capability, USB port, camera, touch screen and to top it all off, it comes with a stylish monogram case.

“Tablet PCs are becoming an essential accessory for today’s busy lives on the go. However, technology does not need to be cold and boring,” said Kam Kothia managing director of the UK’s sole distributor of Pierre Cardin Tablet PCs – eBusiness UK.

“Pierre Cardin epitomizes the belief that great design can enhance everything from clothes and luggage to furniture and living spaces. We are delighted to be launching the first designer-branded tablet PC into the UK market. Following the successes of the Prada and Armani brands with their mobile phones, we strongly believe there is a strong market for our tablet PC.”

Measuring in at 19.5cm x 12.3cm x 1.4cm (Inches: 7.7 x 4.8 x 0.6), it’s smaller than the Apple iPad2, making it more handbag or briefcase friendly. The Pierre Cardin tablet only available in the UK right now, priced at a tidy £275. Find out more information at PierreCardinTabletPC.co.uk.

It should be interesting to see how the Pierre Cardin tablet sells, much like its fashion designer & mobile phone counterparts, we don’t expect it to light the world on fire, but for Pierre Cardin and fashion fans (like Lady Gaga and Nicole Richie) it is another option on the market.
