Romance Was Born held one of my favourite shows at Australian Fashion Week this year, their theatrical shows and designs always manages to take my breathe away. Though for spring/summer 2011-12 they didn’t create elaborate footwear for the runway show, understandable though, models had to walk quite a long distance from the backstage area, along the walls of the library, downstairs and then along the runway floor. So it comes a little bit of a surprise that Romance Was Born has teamed up with Australian footwear brand PeepToe Shoes to design a pair of shoes – that is almost a little understated for Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales, the designer duo behind Romance Was Born.
Called the Miss Oracle, Plunkett and Sales have taken a platform ankle boot in black, gold and white, given it a perforated upper section and dipped in it some glitter. Great for a bit of sparkle in everyday wear, but I kinda of expected a little more ‘crazy’ or ‘outrageousness’ from the Romance Was Born team.
Retailing for $329, the Romance Was Born for PeepToe ‘The Oracle’ shoe will be exclusively available in the PeepToe Paddington boutique and online from Thursday.
