Fashion designer and Australia’s Next Top Model judge Alex Perry has added a real estate developer to his repertoire with news that he has teamed up the Chrome Property Group to create the Alex Perry Residential apartment buildings in Queensland, Australia.

Known for creating corseted gowns that are popular with the prom/débutante ball and wedding set, the Alex Perry Residential apartments will launch in a matter of days in Brisbane’s fashionable area of Fortitude Valley and boasts 11 levels of apartments, 5-star hotel-style lobby and a signature restaurant and bar.

Perry states in a release that he plans to bring ‘couture apartments’ to Australia:

“Good design is not just about what we put on our backs but where we live and how we create our lifestyle. My role as a couturier is to customize a garment to complement the features and personality of its wearer. I have applied the same principles to Alex Perry Residential, incorporating my knowledge of proportion, scale, colour and texture to spaces instead of bodies. The couture approach will provide something unique for buyers rather than the usual cookie-cutter approach taken by many of today’s new apartment developments.”

You will be able to live in Perry’s idea of luxury with design features set to include “a glittering marble and chandelier filled lobby; a roof top Grecian inspired pool and lounge area which will be known as The Aqua Lounge and apartment designs in a choice of ‘blonde’ or ‘brunette’ colour schemes.”

How hair shades of blonde and brunette have anything to do with interior design is beyond us, but we expect to hear the beauty terms to be used more with the Alex Perry Residential apartments in Fortitude Valley being just the beginning with plans to roll out more buildings across Australia over the next 10 years.

We wonder if Perry, who is a spokesperson for Electrolux appliances, will be giving buyers the option to include the appliances he endorses. The Australian fashion designer follows in the footsteps of Versace who have condo’s in the Philippines, Missoni who have a slew of hotels around the world and Giorgio Armani who have designed interiors for apartments and have a hotel in Dubai.
