Gemma Ward to return to modeling after her theatre debut

It’s been almost 3 years since Gemma Ward last graced a magazine cover after herself impose hiatus from the glare of the media and the fashion world, but in the lead up to her starring role in a theatre production in her home town of Perth, Australia, we’re slowly seeing the phoenix rising from the ashes.

At the age of 23, Ward has already walked all the major runways of the world and worked with some of the most talented actors of our time – not to mention having her weight gained mocked by the fashion media (note, we were not one of them) during her hiatus from modelling and the public limelight.

But she’s back and obviously matured, talking with Sunday Magazine (found inside the Sunday newspapers published by Rupert Murdoch’s News Limited in Australia) about how she met and came to date Heath Ledger and her upcoming role in a play called The Ugly One. Check out the article that went to print here and here (it’s somehow been spilt in two for the web).

And will we see her modelling again?

“In terms of me shying away from modelling, I’d like to clarify in some way that I was taking a break from many things in my life and obviously what people in the public see is that I’m pulling away from what is more ‘public’,” she said.

“I didn’t know how long it would take, I didn’t know if it would solve anything, but I set out to really focus inside myself.”

It looks positive!
