First look: Prince William and Kate Middleton by Mario Testino

We loved it when Mario Testino refused to send Anna Wintour particular shots from a photoshoot in the September Issue, but when some of his other works include photographing the first royal portrait of Prince William and Kate Middleton, you actually understand the talent and connections a man like Testino has. When news of the photoshoot broke last week, fashion blogs were abuzz with the news, and now that the official images have been released, we love how he’s captured the young couple – the future of England monarchy.

“I am very happy to have been asked to cover this historic moment that the whole world was waiting for,” said Testino of the photoshoot. “They are in their prime and brimming with happiness. I have never felt so much joy as when I see them together.”

But the most important question is, what is Kate wearing in the photos (besides Princess Diana’s engagement ring)? She’s wearing a white dress from British high street retailer Reiss. We checked, it’s not available online – yet. And we’re pretty sure if it’s availble in stores, it will sell out quickly.

This isn’t the first time Testino has photographed the English Royal, he shot Princess Diana for Vanity Fair in 1997, photographed Prince William on his 21st birthday and Prince Charles for his official Christmas card this year.

We hope Testino will be the official wedding photographer come the couple’s wedding date, April 29 2011!

Apparently the white dress was from last season although Reiss now has intentions to include the dress in their next collection. The close up is a blouse from Whistles.
