Things are not looking particularly crash hot for mermaids in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the fourth movie in the Pirates film series. It was revealed a few months ago that Gemma Ward was joining Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz and fellow Australian Geoffrey Rush as a mermaid in the film. It looks like Ward and fellow mermaid Astrid Berges-Frisbey may suffer from an untimely end if images from the set are anything to go by as Filmonic.com muse that the limp fish-y body (see below) on the beach in a ship wreak scene may be one of the mermaids.
