Denim collaborations: Mika Ninagawa for 7 For All Mankind and Brooks Brothers for Levis

If you ask me, the denim world has been a bit quiet of late. Unless you count the limited buzz that surrounded Vivienne Westwood Anglomania for Lee Jeans. But two new limited edition collaborations have just been announced that should bring the spotlight back in time for the northern hemisphere fall: 7 For All Mankind collaborates with famed Japanese photographer Mika Ninagawa and Levi’s collaborates with Brooks Brothers.

In a different twist to a fashion/designer or celebrity collaboration 7 For All Mankind has chosen to works of Mika Ninagawa to be incorporated into their designs in a seven-piece men’s and women’s collection of denim and sportswear.

“Working with the 7 For All Mankind design team to partner their iconic fits and washes with my photographic prints has been an extremely inspiring experience. Blurring the line between art and fashion is something I strongly believe in and I’ve really enjoyed merging our two worlds together to create the pieces in this exceptional collection,” says Ninagawa.

We love this collaboration that pairs the world of art with fashion with Ninagawa’s vibrant photography set to be introduced to a whole new audience. The 7 For All Mankind By Mika Ninagawa collection will see her iconic flower photographs brought to live in a collection that will include t-shirts, skinny jeans and shorts. The collection will hit 7 For All Mankind boutiques in the United States, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea, Australia, Germany, France and Italy in mid August 2010 and retail from USD$89 to USD$198.

Meanwhile Levi’s have teamed up with Brooks Brothers for an all American partnership for men. Levi’s Jeans, Made in the USA for Brooks Brothers is a collection of men’s jeans that include sophisticated and classic jeans for Brooks Brothers’ customers in timeless finishes and washes. This collaboration will see the addition of denim in Brooks Brothers stores in America.

“Levi’s jeans and Brooks Brothers suits have been staples of American menswear through world wars and civil wars, booms and busts, and the continued transformation and redefinition of the American frontier; It may have taken us over 135 years, but we are finally joining forces and are excited to be doing something together!’ says Carl Chiara, director of Men’s and Women’s Brand Concepts and Special Projects for the Levi’s Brand, The Americas.

The Levi’s Jeans, Made in the USA for Brooks Brothers collection will also include the popular 501 and 505 Levi’s styles and will retail for USD$148.
